Survivor 3/12

Yes, they said it would be in 2 weeks. I assumed it would be March Madness (CBS is apparently the network that gets to air the college basketball tournament). It’s way too early in the season for a clip show, I think.

I do not know if this was mentioned in a thread before.

Here in Canada on Global, just before they go to commercial, they sometime mention a bit of trivia concerning a Survivor contestant.

Last night, it was mentioned that Coach did not tell is boss that he was going to be on Survivor and only asked for one week off, and supposedly, he was fired for it.

Of course, he may not know this as the filming is on, but it would surely be an incentive to win.

We discussed this in a previous thread – apparently the boss didn’t find out till they started advertising this season, which was after filming was completed – so, no, Coach was back in the States before he got fired.

I bet JT would be upset to learn about the shootings in his hometown, too.

How long ago did this season finish actual fliming/taping? By the time of the final show, everybody – including the final group – has fattened up and spruced up big time. A minimum of weeks, I’d guess. So Coach and JT and anybody else with bad news ought to know about it as of whenever.

According to TVGuide.com, the Wednesday episode is a real episode, not a clip show.

Good news, everyone!

It’s a shame that Spencer’s whole “I won’t tell anyone I’m gay, because some of them have funny accents” strategy came to naught.

And Coach actually came within shouting distance of slightly redeeming himself when he pointed out how the wind shifts before the rains move in, but lost it immediately when he decided he could predict exactly where the clouds would go. I’m so looking forward to the reunion show and Probst grilling him on the whole “You told your employer you had cancer so you could go on a national TV show?” issue.

I was hoping he’d make it to the end and that, somewhere near the final, JT would turn to him and say “You know, I’ve known you were gay since day one. How come you never said anything about it?”

I would have loved that very thing myself.

Jeff Probst says it is a clip show.

He wrote, “We are on WEDNESDAY NIGHT with a really cool “never before scenes” special. There are some great scenes that will crack you up, including Coach conducting. It’s really good stuff. I know a lot of you guys hate this episode so we worked especially hard to make it rock!”

From what Spencer told me, we missed a whole heck of a lot more than that. The plan was actually to target Sydney, then that changed somewhere in his mind to Taj (he was a little confusing on that point, I have to admit). So Stephen and Taj probably never worried at all.

They were done before last season’s finale – probably several weeks before that.

They’re wrong. It’s a clip show, verified by my CBS p.r. contact.

As somebody else noted, it’s early for one, but that’s just how the timing worked out for the NCAA tournament, I guess.

I’ve been catching up on Survivor, which is now on Primetime On Demand. (It’s a cable station where you can watch recent episodes of currently airing shows (e.g. 30 Rock, The Office, BurnNotice and Survivor) from various networks. It’s free on my cable. YMMV. I realize I could watch on the website but I prefer watching it on the big screen.

Anywho, I’m amazed that Taj allowed Stephen to walk off with the idol. What the heck is she thinking? Although part of me would love to see her wrestle him for it.

I’m also amazed that Sandy didn’t do more to find that HII. She didn’t know what a pace was, so she just let it go for a few weeks? Argh!

I’m rooting for Brendan all the way. I like TJ’s heart, but I’m partial to men with a full set of teeth.

Someone posted in earlier Survivor threads that the first set of II’s that Sandy and Sierra were given clues to were good only for the very first TC and null/void after. I admit I don’t recall hearing that clause during the show.

As noted by squeegee, it was only good for the first trip to Tribal Council. I thought that was made pretty clear on the show, but YMMV. Amusingly, Sandy didn’t actually realize herself that it was only good for the first TC! She told me when I interviewed her, “In the note, though, that I kept sticking in my bra and kept swimming with it, it got faded and I didn’t actually (notice) the part of the note where it said the idol was only good the first time we went to Tribal Council. I didn’t really realize that, the hyper person I am – and I am hyper, everybody knows that – I read the note really fast and didn’t let that part sink in.” So she kept looking for it after she could no longer use it.

By the way, she also claimed, “I know what a pace is. I’m kind of a character and love to tease and have fun. I actually knew what a pace was. They played that up pretty good and I liked it.”

She was thinking “You have a pocket to carry this in. I don’t” It was just practicality. I do think she’s getting a little cocky, tho, and she could easily slip up and mouth off at the wrong time.
