You know you’re a hick when the producers have to give you subtitles when you talk.
I loved Jacob’s advice to Michael. Too bad he didn’t realize HE was the one who needed to heed it. And, of course, he did exactly what he was supposed to NOT do with his advantage-- tell someone else about it. What an idiot. Played like a fiddle by a girl in a bikini.
I am fairly certain that Donathan is actually a new Kate McKinnon character that she is giving a trial run before debuting him on SNL. It seems like more effort than necessary but I am not an expert on show business.
As far as “super fans” go, Jacob was pretty lame. Did he completely forget about the concept of splitting votes? Playing the “I have a (fake) idol,” gambit only works if you have enough numbers to avoid a split.
It’s been a long time since Exile Island, so I can’t remember, was the exiled always immune from the vote? Or is that new for this season.
When they first did Exile island, the exile occurred after the Reward challenge, and the exilee returned at the beginning of the Immunity challenge. So no built in immunity.
The set design this season is absolutely gorgeous. From the immunity idol to Ghost Island to Tribal Council, the show deserve an Emmy just for that. The only thing that would be cooler was if the person voted out had to walk through the flaming skull of death’s mouth as they leave.
I hope this whispering-during-tribal-council fad ends soon. At it’s core, this show is supposed to be entertainment for the viewer and that falls apart if we aren’t privy to what the participants are talking about. On the other hand, it’s an easy way to cull the idiots out of the herd. Gonzales pretty much outed her alliance at TC.
It was also a pointless move. maybe it works near the end of the game, when everything can be in flux and there are multiple idols in play. The first tribal, where everyone has already decided? What did she think was going to happen?
Watched it a couple days late. Most of my thoughts have been covered already. Confused about Dominicks’s fake idol play. Glad the obvious bitchy drama queen went out first. Wanted to like Jacob but couldn’t quite.
When they promo’d this season at the last reunion, I was under the impression that the actual players who made the various bad decisions highlighted on Ghost Island would be returning, a chance to rectify their past mistakes. I was kind of looking forward to that. But so far this cast has some promise. Could be a fun season!
Am I remembering correctly that the listed profession for Gonzales was “stripper”? I think that flashed on screen at one point, but I didn’t see it again. Seems an odd word to use on a family show. “Entertainer” or “dancer” would have been more appropriate.
Her bio lists her profession as “graphic sales”. Which I guess could be some kind of weird euphemism for stripper, but more likely you misread “salesperson” as “stripper” ?
I look forward to seeing segments about Jacob – and Gonzales, for that matter – on Survivor: Another Ghost Island.
One thing about being young, and I can say this from experience: when you lie, people that are older can sniff it out in a nanosecond just on the basis of having more life experience. And they did. “I’m going to play it no matter what, because I don’t like idol play.” Umm, did you think that one all the way through, Jacob?
Jacob: Jeff, I’d like to play an idol.
Jeff: Jacob, you’re playing a fake idol that you, yourself, made. Mm-kay.
Not to be mean – not to mention politically incorrect – but is Donathan retarded? I just don’t see how a guy like that gets picked to be on the show. He brings nothing physically, mentally or otherwise. The only aspect he brings to the actual game is wondering if he’ll get dragged to the finish line as a Philip: a devout pawn in someone’s alliance. He seems like a sweet kid who’s more likely to get emotionally destroyed and disillusioned in some blindside. I can’t decide who is more sadistic: the producers of the show or his tribemates who decided to put him on that leg of the challenge.
I Lol’d at this. I would be on board, except that I dislike Coach more than any other Survivor, ever (Hantz a close 2nd). Pretentious, manipulative prick.
The problem with doing a tribe swap in just the second episode is that I didn’t know the players well enough to remember who was on what original tribe so the blindside meant nothing to me. I have no idea who switched alliances because I don’t know what those alliances were!
The fallout from this vote should prove interesting.
The failed blindside of Angela makes her dangerous. And I guarantee she is the type to hold a grudge.
Part of me hoped the Malolo four would target Dominick instead of Miley Cyrus’s older sister. But I get them being spooked by the possibility of an idol. And with the idol still in play, and Dominick’s strained relationship with Chris, and a pissed-off Angela, there should be some fun drama on the tribe going forward.
Yep. For all I know, a few of those players could have been brand new players who subbed in for the original cast. But based on vocal mannerisms alone, they voted the right person out.
