And on this episode, How to Fail at Blindsiding, hosted by Corrine. I mean, how many mistakes did she make?
Incorrectly identified Dawn as the person likely to jump, and spilled the beans to her (when Dawn had already spilled the beans this season in a similar event - I’m thinking Francesca?)
Missed the obvious opening Phillip gave her to pull off her plan with only 6 (or even the 5 she got) when Phillip said they should split the vote. Corrine should’ve just said “sure, let’s split” then get her people to vote out their target of choice.
Counted on Erik’s vote, when it seemed clear that no one had really talked to him or had him in the group (though this is more Malcolm’s fault than Corrine’s)
Targeted Sherri instead of targeting Phillip. Seriously, if you’re trying to pull a move like this, go after the guy at the top. If you actually had 6 as you believed, once you take out Phillip you’re ahead 6-5 and can start kicking those people out anyways!
So dumb. Glad she’s gone (not to mention I was tired of her saying “the gay” over and over).
Was really happy for Cochran, though. And the strong guys still have a fighting chance given they have two immunity idols between them.
Was kinda wondering how long it would take the “Erik is an idiot” talk to come back. Early in the season everyone was treating him like a competent player for some strange reason. And yeah, Brenda’s muteness really bugs me (especially since she was probably my most-liked “favorite” before the season started).
Maybe he did in the off season. Everybody, including himself, knows that he’ll never win a physical challenge, but he could have a viable shot at a challenge which will make most people cringe. And he was right
Cochrane’s look of joy, and his little boxing stance, was the first unguarded moment of happiness I think I’ve seen in quite some time. It was awesome to watch, and the fact that he couldn’t peel the smile off his face even back at camp just made me happy.
Agreed. I liked him last season too, but he’s one of the few returning players who actually hyper-self aware and is simply playing the game far better than before. And his commentary is always great.
Still wish we’d see–or hear–more from Brenda…(did anyone else notice she had a knee brace? Odd they haven’t addressed that).
Even if both alliances were rock solid, Malcolm’s is still in a decent position (way better than the average 5 person vs 7 person) because they hold two idols. Hopefully they have the brains to play them correctly and the ability to get inside the opposing alliance enough to see which way the vote is going.
Getting rid of Corinne was a good move, but getting rid of Macolm would have been a great move. Then you would have had Corinne going back from tribal knowing that she was completely screwed and they then could take her out at their leisure.
Corrinne certainly made a bunch of mistakes, but I’m not sure this (by itself) was one of them. If I’m reading her strategy correctly, she figured she had 6 people in her alliance, against the 6 people outside her alliance. If she could convince everyone that she did not have a secret alliance for one more round (i.e., by convincing Phillip to vote out Sherri), then she sails through this round and has the numbers for a proper blindside the next time. Her chief mistake was tellign all this to Dawn.
I actually don’t hate Corrine the way I did her previous season, but man, did she deprive us of one of the all-time potentially great moments in Survivor history. Oh, how I would have loved to see the look on Phillip’s face when his names started to accumulate during TC. When dude says, “We are gonna split the vote,” you STFU and gather your troops for a pow-wow. I think there might have been a little more of an issue with her switching alliances than the editors showed us. I think she got that fence pole stuck up her ass, hence just wanting to go after Sherri and remaining, umm, Stealth.
Corrine appears to be a smart person (outside of Survivor) but her mouth moves before her mind can catch up and that’s a crucial liability in Survivor. Still, she’s good for the show, though, because there are too often not enough players, either good or bad. And bad players are sometimes the best from a viewer standpoint.
Dawn, to her credit, has become quite slippery. And boy, does she have the face and personality for it – that’s just a face you think you can trust… and then WHAM! Speaking of, while she’s not traditionally beautiful, her skin is impeccable. Looks like she’s wearing glam makeup when she’s wearing none.
Like everyone else, I’m kinda digging Cochrane this season whereas I wanted to smack him last time. Got swayed by that douchebag Coach of all people. :smack:
I’ve been noticing braces and band-aids more and more these days… it’s almost like they’ve figured out that having multiple players get injured out of the game every season is not entertaining.
What I would love to see is somebody out in the jungle, chowing down on grubs.
Oh my god this 1000%. I could not believe when Phillip said he wanted to split the vote Corrine didn’t just say “Well you know I hate splitting the vote Phillip but fine if that’s what you need to do” and then VOTE HIS PINK PANTY COVERED ASS OFF MY TV.
Damn it Corrine I will hate you forever for this.
In another example of next lines that had better be said Andrea’s from the preview had better be:
Real romance is rare in Survivor… and I can’t believe Eddie believes I’ve fallen for him
I have trouble keeping track of who’s siding with whom in the middle of these plots, but I got the impression that some of the people Corinne needed to vote off Philip were more likely to follow Philip’s lead, if that makes any sense… so many times it seems (particularly at this stage of the game, post-merge but pre-Jury) that nobody wants to do anything without an overwhelming majority. It sounded like if she had let Philip go ahead with his plan, she might only have gotten five votes for Philip and if six people voted for somebody else, she’d lose.
