Survivor 4/3/13 Blindside Time

Welcome to another episode of Survivor.

This week we bring you the “Gross Food” challenge. And I must say - even if it wasn’t for the “gross” component of the food items, the sheer amount of food they are supposed to choke down in the time given would be too much for me. I couldn’t eat that much honey baked ham that fast. Maybe potato chips. But not ham.

It sounds similar to a TAR eating challenge. They’re not showing exactly what the offerings are, but judging from Malcolm’s face in the trailer, it’s no doubt disgusting

Beetle Larvae and Brains

Ahem, don’t you mean:

BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIINS! ?

All I can predict confidently is that if the episode title is “Blindside Time”, absolutely nobody will be blindsided.

Wrong.

Possibly the best episode of this season, just for the look on the evictee’s face when the results were read…

That was so awesome.

Indeed. Kinda nice to see an obvious mistake (spreading word of your plan before you had to) getting its reward so immediately.

Also nice foreshadowing of Dawn not wanting to repeat her mistake last time of not telling her alliance about a planned betrayal. I think this was probably a good move for her, she has a much better shot of going far with the Phil/Cochran/Andrea group than with Corrine + the boys.

I did fine at watching the gross eating but kinda threw up at Andrea’s eyelash-batting in next week’s previews.

I was truly happy for Cochrane rocking the eating challenge. How could NOT be happy for him?
Ditto Dawn realizing not to repeat past mistakes in not saying anything.

I figured Corinne was going to be blindsided. The more she kept talking about taking out Sherri, the more she exposed herself. I didn’t watch her season, so I don’t know if she did the same thing back then.

Is Eric really that clueless or is it just an act? I didn’t watch his season either.

Corinne is such a dumbass. She should have let Phillip think he is going to split the Favorites votes 4-4 for Eddie Reynold.

Corrine and Malcolm are not on board. There for the votes are 3-3 (possibly 4-2) for Eddie/Reynold.

Corrine, Malcolm, Eddie, Reynold and Michael are 5 votes. You got enough votes to vote anyone you want including “the Specialist”.

Corrine starts running her mouth to everyone just over-stirred the pot.

Happy for Cochran winning immunity. I think I could have eaten everything there, but I wouldn’t enjoy it. I might have had trouble with the 2nd entree, the stuff that looked like worms. {{shudder}}

Does Brenda speak?

In his first season he gave away immunity only to be promptly voted out. Out of some vague sense of honor/guilt. It is very much not an act.

Damn glad to see Cochran have his moment in the sun.

Well, that got a lot better in a hurry. Malcolm is probably the best player left in the game, but he may have outed himself tonight. We’ll see how good his scrambling skills are next week. I have a hard time believing that an alliance led by Philip is going to last for very long.

Yeah. Generally in this game, even people who are lousy at strategy at least recognize that strategy is GOING ON AROUND THEM, even if they’re getting bypassed on the specific buzz. Erik just isn’t sure what’s going on anywhere…strategy? There’s a strategy to this? What do you mean it’s a game? I thought I was just invited to spend my vacation on the beach!

ETA: Just remembered what I said to supervenusfreak tonight, watching Erik plod dully through the clouds of drama and blindsidery at their camp. “Erik is one of those people who’s quiet and calm and self-contained, so it LOOKS like he’s got his crap together. Really, he’s just not sure (and doesn’t really care) where his crap is, or if he ever actually had any crap.”

Some blindsides are more satisfying than others.

That one was extremely satisfying.

+1

I’ve hated Corrine since her first season. Loathed.

Corinne played possibly the worst episode in Survivor history among players who didn’t give up immunity–I think the only competition was Tyson voting himself out in Heroes vs Villains. All Corinne had to do was agree to split votes initially when commanded by Philip or not blab about the following tribal council and she would have had a cakewalk to the final three.

One of Corrine’s weaknesses has always been that she can’t stand not having everyone aware of just how amazing she is. If she has a clever plan for catapulting her own mixed alliance over her old favs alliance, she has to make sure as many people as possible know about it because how else is everyone going to know how much of an awesome strategic genius she is?

Brenda continues to be mute. Seriously, her word count eight episodes in has to be in the single digits.
