I don’t know how much he paid that lawyer, but if that’s the best he could come up with as a defense it was too much. I think he’d have done much better to have plead guilty, give them the money (which is all they wanted probably) and just get on with his damned weird self-absolving life.
Oh, I dunno.
I distinctly remember every one of my clients (that I worked for on a 1099 basis) PROMISING they’d pay all my income tax and SS tax even though the agreement was that I was responsible for them.
I know for a fact that when my 1099’s came with no withholding, it was just multiple cases of accounting errors.
I’m sure that the money is in the hands of the Feds and I am fine with paying no income tax and will bear that in mind when I do my taxes in a few months.
