I thought it was pretty risky for Earl. Stacy was the one urging the split vote, right? I thought her next move would be to go to Alex and Mookie and and someone else in the syndicate (Cassandra?) arrange for them to vote for Earl. Or even just Stacy, Alex, and Mookie voting against one of the other syndicate members would have created a tie between Alex or Mookie and their target.
I think Dreamz told Alex about the split vote, giving him an opportunity to make sure he stayed. Dreamz eventually wants to pull Alex into an anti-Earl/Yau Man alliance.
Definitely; Stacy is my Most Hated Player. Useless and bitchy.
Cold-blooded move by Alex…using the Daffy Duck school of ethics (“somebody has to go, and it can’t be me…”).
On the face of it, Alex is Dead Man Walking – but we’re entering the end game, where he can play the final 3 card. As in “is Earl taking you to the final 3? No? Mwaahaha…Join me, and I’ll take you there. Pinky swear.”
And is it just me, or is this the most pampered group of survivors ever? Not only have half of them slept on featherbeds and had coffee and donuts every morning – but they’ve had more spa trips than I’ve ever had in my life.
I think we need to keep in mind that with a jury starting at Survivor #12, that means we’ve got a final three again. And what’s going to screw the whole thing up is that these people didn’t get to see last season, and they’re all assuming there’s going to be a final two, I think.
I honestly don’t know if Dreamz is smart enough to pull Alex aside and try to get something going there. Alex might have had the opportunity to start playing the Syndicate against each other, if he hadn’t shown the sheer magnitude of his jackassery by ransacking Yau-Man’s stuff and then attempting to blackmail him.
Didn’t someone post a few weeks back that Jeff thinks this season sucked? Is he crazy? This season has been fantastic.
But I fear for the future of Earl and Yau-Man. They’re too good. And the good almost always get bit in the end (Tom the Fireman has to be Jesus or something).
I thnk Alex’s vote was a mistake, for two reasons. First, he just demonstrated to everyone left in the game that he’s completely untrustworthy, even to his last alliancemate. Why even risk aligning with him? Second, say he does manage to work some magic and end up inthe finals. He just alienated a vote on the jury. Good job.
Alex looks good on paper, but has managed to choose the worst possible option at every critical junction. Combine that with a complete fialure to win challenges, and man.
No, it was Boo, of all people – Earl actually didn’t want to split the vote, saying something along the lines of, “It’s risky, somebody is bound to forget,” or something like that.
You may be right, but I think Dreamz is only a part of any alliances nominally. He’s not going to pull Cassandra away from Earl, or Boo either, and I don’t think he trusts Stacy, so I think he’s kind of going with the flow, but operating on his own agenda. Then again, it is entirely possible that I give him too much credit.
I’m with everyone who said that they’re glad they stuck it out this year. The personalities might not be as “big” as some we’ve seen before, but the gameplay is positively stellar this time around.
OK, you’re right, it was Boo. Just substitute him for Stacy. Or put him in an alliance with Stacy, neither of whom seem to be terribly trustworthy.
As for Dreamz, I can’t believe he’d think Alex or Mookie would fall for his lame “I didn’t betray you” claim, but at least it showed he was thinking about the game.
I think both Boo and Stacey would be all too happy to vote out Earl or Yao Man if given a shot at it. I think Dreamz is smart enough to set it up.
HE doesn’t have to be that smart. Someone else can have the idea and rope him in. He is certain to side with whomever offers him a new lease on life.
Boo, Stacey, Dreamz and Alex. How is that for a final four?
I can’t figure this out. Earl said something like “it’s not going to be a tie” right after they decided to split the vote (or was that by himself, to the camera), and he had wry smile on his face at TC. I think he’s the one who told Alex. I was hoping they’d tell both those guys to vote for the other one and get them both to betray each other. If they whispered it to them individually just before TC, the two of them wouldn’t be able to talk about it.
Splitting the vote had to one of the dumbest things. Well, next to Dreamz bombing himself on his first move at the IC.
I still think splitting the vote was kind of a stroke of genius, because no matter what, either Mookie or Alex was going to get more votes than whoever Mookie & Alex could decide to vote for. And if Earl did tell Alex, good on him, because he just bought himself a temporary ally, until Alex outlives his usefulness about 20 minutes after they get back to camp.
And FWIW, when I play Battleship, I often bomb myself fairly early in the game – it tends to throw opposing players off the scent. The problem, I think, was the size of the board. The game would have been more interesting if they had two sets of 3 squares each.
Too risky, if you ask me. Why give up overwhelming force and make it easier for a secret alliance to form and undo the plans? Supposing Boo was really trying to set up a dodge, so that he could align with Alex and Mookie (plus one more) to vote out Earl. Or, if it was just the 3 of them, there would have been a tie between Earl and Mookie/or/Alex. But I understand why he didn’t want to push the point too hard and make it sound like he was giving orders.
It was clear by the look on his face that it was not intentional. And with only 3 squares, you’re off to a bad start when you lose one on the first move.
