Holy crap, you guys! Sorry I’m late, but … that was one of the Top Five Episodes Ever! Typical challenges tonight, but also strategy unlike any we’ve seen in a long time, all the way through. Very impressive! (No specifics, except that Michelle is such a cutie pie and I’m sorry she’s watching from the Jury Box, now.)
Link to last week’s thread, which further links to the previous threads.
I have to say, I considered bailing on this season for a little bit, because I didn’t think anyone was particularly exciting, but watching everything play out like it is and seeing the “character development” of some of these players – whether for good, evil, or awesome – these things are making me really glad I stayed invested.
OMG, what a great episode! People switching back and forth, the right person (maybe, maybe not) winning immunity, the HI played in tribal counsel…who could ask for anything more?
Everybody going into to tribal with smarmy smug looks of confidence,I was laughing from the start.
Two factions both thinking they had the other one by the balls and poor Dreamz without a clue of what was gonna happen.
Dreamz reaction was funny when the Edgardo votes started piling up,but the other three horsemens reactions were priceless…all three jaws hitting the floor at once,I could hear the clunks from here. Then the knowing smiles from the “syndicate” as Yau dubbed them ,awesome.
Dreamz might very well make it into the finals but so far I don’t see any of the first four jury members wanting to vote for him.His only chance would be to bring along Stacey, but even then I think she would beat him handily.
I don’t know if any single Tribal Council has ever made me so happy. That was brilliant. The look on Alex’s face when the Mookie vote was read was good enough–but his expression when the Edgardo votes started piling up is one I wish I could bottle and sell. Beautiful.
Dreamz will likely be pissed at the Earl-Man alliance for not advising him of what was really going down, but hopefully Cassandra will pull him aside on the walk back to camp and 'splain to him.
I almost felt bad for Stacey during the reward challenge … but then I remembered that I don’t like her. But when she put forth the idea of voting for Edgardo, I decided to set my dislike aside for a while. That was a smart move, and it was all Stacey. I almost felt bad for Edgardo, but he was a tool-by-association, so my sympathy was fleeting.
Seeing Alex and Edgardo’s faces fall as the first votes for Mookie and then Edgardo were read had me giggling with glee.
Dreamz is too loose a cannon to keep around much longer. He is going to feel betrayed by the ones who voted for Edgardo instead of Mookie, and he is a traitor himself to Mookie and Alex. It will be interesting to see which group (if any) he aligns with next week.
Dreamz is the saviour of Survivor and a future All Star.
Messing with immunity idol(s) was a good idea, but this show realy needed someone to come in and purposely f%@* with the alliances to really make things work.
He singlehandedly broke the by now extremely boring tactic of one side forming an alliance and the other side forming an alliance and whoever makes the merge with the numbers eliminates the other side one at a time.
I think Yao-Man is more a Survivor Savior than that dummy Dreamz is! Dreamz is easy on the eyes. That’s about all. He is dumber than the average rock, totally untrustworthy and lacking any shred of subtlty.
On the other hand, Yao-Man is this funny-looking little geek who is smart as a whip and surprising at physical competition. I think he’s the real brains behind the whole show this season. And he’s my hero!
Dreamz is a puppet and is being used perfectly by the Syndicate, not letting him on to the Edgardo vote was a masterful move and he voted like the syndicate told him to, which may keep him around next week.If he would have voted with the Horses he is for sure a goner. The Horsemen were pretty damn good too,had their plan worked, with or without Dreamz, Casandra is out,but they got apocaled, brilliant playing from all sides.
Yau-Man definately All-star material and is way better at the challenges, wether they are mental or physical, than any other player,he made everyone look silly in immunity tonight, while every one else was flopping to the ground and limping or hobbling off,he leapt off his perch at the end and said"I coulda stayed up there another hour." Did admire Boo’s effort tho.
Speaking of Boo, he was close to elimination, but seems to have recovered nicely,he may be a force to be reckoned with since he,as far as I can tell, has burnt any bridges.
Still giggling over the TC,what a great survivor moment, maybe the best ever! Can’t wait for next week!
What does WIMOF mean?
I just rewatched the tribal council and noticed something I missed the first time (probably because I was laughing too hard). Probst said that the hidden immunity idol that Alex played would be re-hidden and there would be new clues leading to it. Very interesting.
Also, I know the previews tend to be misleading, but I’m worried about Alex and Mookie getting hold of Yau Man’s hidden immunity idol.
Yeah, the theft of an II is a very interesting twist. I very much doubt that those guys will just see the idol and leave it there. And of course that there is no rule against stealing it. Yau might find a way to send himself to EI just to get the clues to the new II.
The only thing that worried me about that win was that he just demonstrated to all of his tribemates that he is definitely a threat. If he didn’t have a target on his back before, he certainly does now. That’s why I thought that maybe he shouldn’t have won, or at least not said how easy it was.
Actually, I think Dreamz is in exactly the right spot, for now. He did as he was told by The Syndicate: Voted for Mookie, because Alex had the Idol. Stacy came up with the idea of voting for Edgardo instead – brilliant move on her part, by the way, absolutely genius (for this game, anyway) – and by not telling Dreamz what the other five were going to do, Earl (successfully) tested Dreamz’ loyalty. So everybody wins, kinda. Except Edgardo, who was less repulsive than Alex is, but only slightly.
And now, because the remaining Horsemen have been played but good, they’re going to target Earl, Yau, or Cassandra – which is idiotic since the rest of The Syndicate has the votes necessary to save whoever goes on the block. Alex & Mookie aren’t going to go after Dreamz, because they’re morons. Earl is going to try to keep Dreamz’s vote in has back pocket, because Dreamz has proven himself loyal and valuable. Which means Dreamz is safe for at least two more Tribal Councils, I think, and as more people get voted out, Dreamz is more likely to win Immunity, which only improves his chances.
I actually agree with this. Dreamz basically put himself in the catbird seat by waffling until he decided who had the better offer. And the best part of all of it is, it was completely unintentional. He’s not a con man or anything, lying to everyone and pissing everyone off; he’s been pretty much honest the whole time, all but admitting that he wasn’t committing to anything long-term. While the “lone wolf” strategy is hard to pull off, it can work. “I’ll vote for anyone who isn’t me” won Sandra a million dollars.
I worried about it for one second, and then I did the math in my head that Alex & Mookie are obviously too stupid to do. Even if they do steal Yau’s HII, they still leave themselves vulnerable. Because Earl is no dummy, and neither is Yau, and I bet they already have this figured out:
Alex & Mookie will vote for, say, Cassandra = 2 votes
Earl, Cassandra & Boo will vote for Alex = 3 votes
Yau, Stacy & Dreamz will vote for Mookie = 3 votes
The way the HII works is, votes for whoever plays it are not counted, and the next highest vote-getter is out. All The Syndicate needs to do is split its votes evenly and they’ll take out either one or the other of the remaining Horsemen. Because, even on Exile Island, three is more than two. If either Alex or Mookie could do basic math, they’d realize that stealing the HII is doomed to fail.
Of course, Stacy is kind of a wild card, but I think she’ll play along. I suspect she might be the first person out after all the Horsemen are gone, but every Tribal Council she survives gives her a greater opportunity to win Immunity and save her own ass.
This season is turning out to be so freakin’ awesome, I can’t tell you. I loved how Yul worked the strategy angle last season, but he had lots of help (things would not have worked out as they did without the Immunity Monster that was Ozzy). This is a whole new kind of strategy: letting your competition outwit itself. It’s really something to behold.
I wouldn’t put it past Earl and Yau-Man to be clever enough to create another fake idol, and tease the Three Horsemen into stealing it just to screw up their heads.
