Survivor Finale [Please BOX your SPOILERS!]

So? WHo the hell won?

Is Danni adopted? She is six inches taller than everyone else in her family, including all the men, and about 60 times hotter. Something doesn’t add up.

They’re going back to Panama already? Did they run out of tropical seacoasts or something?

My first thought on seeing Steph at the reunion show was, who the hell is that all tarted up? Then when I realized it was her, my second thought was, what the hell did she do to her eyebrows? Yuck, yuck, and triple yuck.

My favorite part of the whole show? Their embarrassment at being outed at TC for eating the chicken and their apparent belief that it brought on the subsequent thunderstorm, and the jury’s mocking of them. I think if Judd or Cindy had rolled their eyes any harder, they would have popped out of their heads.

I was glad Danni won. I could see why she picked Steph over Rafe – Rafe acting all wounded that she didn’t “play with her heart” was such a crock, though! She should “play with her heart” and stand a chance of not winning, whereas against Steph it was almost a sure thing? Rafe needs to lose a bit of his idealism, methinks.

And how come Danni is such a twig and everyone else in her family is, to put it gently, so rotund? One of these things is not like the others. What gives?

Ok time for random comments…

March of the damned? Anyone else expect an Ah Ha video to break out?

“Lidia” - take me because I’m worthless! It’s all I have left!

Rafe, when someone offers to take you to the final two you say THANK YOU MA’AM.

Stephenie totally sucked in front of the jury. Flip-flopping like a fish in the bottom of the boat and like Fear Itself said, missing the opportunity to b-slap several worthy people too many times.

On to the reunion. Who looked better? Danni, 'cept the crazy lips.

Worse? The magician’s assistant girl on the top row. For my next trick, I will super-glue your cheeks to your teeth…

So what was the vote? I predicted five for Danni (Jamie, Judd, Cindy, Bobby Jon, and Gary) and two for Steph (Rafe and Lidia).

Can’t wait for Exile Island. OMG TEH TWISTS!!1

I’ve only seen a couple of episodes over the years – didn’t understand the attraction of the show, all that devious, sneaky behavior I’d heard about-- but from what I saw tonight, it looks like those people are having some fun, and the challenges are, well, challenging.

A couple of questions for you experts:

Did the concept of alliances begin with the first contestants or was it suggested by the producers?

Do the early favorites usually win, or have most of the winners been surprising?

I take it that viewers and the other contestants liked Danni and Rafe. Is it unusual for likable people to do that well?

Has someone that everyone hated ever won?

What was the deal with the four cars that were “left” in Guatemala? One of the survivors could have given them away but chose not to?

I guess I need a Survivor FAQ.

Doing my best…

No one knows the secret machinations that go on behind the scenes, but as far as we know alliances started on the first season, by the first winner Richard Hatch. I remember being appaled too, thinking that it was unfair.

It’s a bit of both, depending on the competition. The least surprising winner was probably Brian from a few seasons ago, if only because the other players that season were complete chowderheads and just let him run the whole show.

Again, it depends on the season. Sometimes the likable ones will go early because they’re too likable, that is to say too dangerous to sit next to at the final TC.

That’s pretty subjective to be sure. I think the least popular winner was probably Vecepia, who was as forgettable a character that Survivor has ever produced.

Yeah - you can read all about it in the thread from Thursday. Short version: In ten seasons of the show the person who wins the ugly SUV never wins it all. The winner this time (Cindy) was given a chance to shake off the curse bu giving up her car, and instead award cars to the other 4 remaining contestants. She elected to keep it, and was prompty voted out.

Hope that helps.

Well… Not how I thought it would play out.

Rafe is an idiot. He shouldn’t have released Danni from her promise. She may have stabbed him anyway, but I think he would have had a better chance.

Wow, Judd. Bitter much? The guy sure knows how to hold a grudge. And he has quite the knack of ignoring data that contradicts his beliefs. And I agree with Fear Itself. Would’ve pissed Judd off, but that’s the only way to deal with him.

Jamie. He seemed to be a little psychotic still.

Question: The results of the final vote had a ‘LIVE’ graphic on the screen. Surely the East Coast aren’t watching the results at 0100?

[sub]I did avoid coming to the thread even though I stayed away from DVDs and 'net surfing, which are two things that destroy my concept the time of day. Thanks to everyone for being considerate though.[/sub]

Rafe totally lost me in the end with his passive-agressive nonsense. Don’t tell someone they’re released from a promise and then throw a hissy fit when they take you at your word.

Steph looked better in Guatemala IMO. She had on way too much make-up at the finale. My husband thinks she and Danni went with the tarted up look to show that they could be girly-girls even though the show showed how atheletic they were.

Tape delay for you guys I believe. Live for EST and CST.

Towards the end of the reunion show I was waiting for Jeff to get all sentimental and emotional and announce that this was his last Survivor…did I miss the quashing of the “Probst leaving Survivor” rumor? Or maybe he’ll quit after EXILE ISLAND!!!

Panama again? Geez. Does Burnett own property down there or something? A friendly (nudge nudge) relationship with their National Parks Department?

My greatest fear for the super secret surprise hidden on the Exile Island: The Dread Pirate Rupert!

Stephenie looked equally bizarre in the Palau reunion show…and I’ll repeat what I said at the time…“You can take a girl out of Jersey, but you can’t take the Jersey out of the girl.”

I read somewhere recently that Jeffy is signed on for four more seasons after Survivor: Janu Island, so he’ll be around a long long while.

‘Survivor’ Host Jeff Probst Renews Contract

I was thinking about retiring and spending my time traveling to exotic locations around the world, meeting new and interesting people. Then I realized, uh, wait a second, I’m already doing that with ‘Survivor’ and getting paid for it, as well," Probst, 44, said in a statement Thursday.

Thanks! I’m glad Jeff will be around awhile, if only because I had a sneaking suspicion that we’d end up with a former contestant like Boston Rob, Colby, or Ethan, or Jerri as the new host. Smart boy, that Jeff.

And even well before the end. By the time the final three came, I was really glad to see Rafe “If I Won A Car I’d Give It Away And I Thought She Would Too” go. I don’t think I could have taken one more moralizing speech about how he would have done things differently from someone else.

I did want to say one last thing about the car curse. According to how Jeff worded it multiple times, the alleged curse was on the winner of the event. That would have been Cindy no matter whether she kept the car or not.

I didn’t watch the end of the show – once Rafe went completely bugshit and my head exploded from Stephenie making the Final Two, I turned the TV off – but I am glad that this got mentioned. I said in Thursday’s thread that I believed it was the winning of The Car, and not The Car itself, that was “cursed.”

Please explain something to me: Is the actual location of the next Survivor a place called “Exile Island,” or is that just a nickname?

I think it’s a nickname. It’s called Survivor Panama: Exile Island.
I didn’t quite understand what he was saying about members being voted off staying on that little island (and getting a chance to come back? did I hear that right?).
He also said they’ll be divided into teams in a way never before seen. Sounds interesting, but we’ll have to see.

Yup. As soon as he [strike]pulled a “Dolphin Boy”[/strike] released Danni from her promise, I knew he’d done lost his mind.

I don’t think Danni played the game as hard or as well as Stephanie, but I’m glad she didn’t win, because she lost last season and didn’t deserve to be there at all.

Danni’s lips. WTF??

Dammit, I meant to preview. I don’t know how to strike out text, apparently. There goes the comedic effect. :smack:

Judd: I reject your reality and sportmanship my own.
