Survivor: 'Pulling the Trigger'

Despite his toxic personality, Russell was a pretty brilliant strategist. I’m not sure I’d agree that he had a “decent” social game (certainly no better than decent anyway), but he had plenty of game otherwise.

Other than bullying her way to the HII, Nay’s got nothing. But for some unknown reason, she’s convinced she has all kinds of power. I think she’s in for a surprise.

A huge and rare f#!K-up by Mark Burnett to put the tribes together as they did. They probably saw video of the older people doing athletic things like Dan bench pressing big weights, and never realizing that his knees were shot. The early tribe reshuffle is an acknowledgement that it was a horrible idea.

If the tribes were mixed up from the beginning, Jimmy Johnson would most likely still be around. He was a threat to the older people, but the younger ones would realize that he couldnt win an individual immunity and could be voted out later, and kept him around for his leadership skills. I would have liked to have seen and heard how JJ would have dealt with Naonka. I’m sure he’s had some experience with the male version of her act.

Here’s the kicker - Jimmy T was tied to someone else. Was that person deaf also, or Tyrone to stupid to call out to them?

“Gee, Jimmy T isn’t listening to me. If only there were some other way to give instructions to them.”

Not only that, but he also brought a certain gravitas and presence to an otherwise pretty sad ass group.

To me he looks like Robert Downey Jr’s evil uncle.

Now that you mention it I can see some of RDJ in his face. There’s somebody else blended in, though.

Delusions of grandeur!

It’s been a hoot listening to the sales pitches he and Jimmy T were laying down.

Nothing beats Jimmy T’s delusions of grandeur. He coached a little highschool basketball, so he’s not surprised that Jimmy Johnson was threatened by his leadership abilities. It’s like Barney Fife thinking he intimidates Patton.

Jimmy T needed to stay so we could have had the first tribal murder.

He’s a fisherman and he couldn’t even catch fish using a net. Wonder what kind of fisherman he was.

I’m glad they’re gonna shuffle up the tribes. Old v Young was probably one of the most lame ideas for Survivor. Who really wants to see geezers lose? At least make it people in their 40’s vs people in their 20’s rather than really old people who have a hard time even walking.

Just can’t wait to see Naonka’s meltdown next week and hope she leaves giving the HII to Brenda. We all can hope, but it’s most likely she’ll make it to the end just to grate on everyone’s nerves.

I liked it better when they let the contestants starve. Sure, they don’t move around as much; but I found the group dynamics more interesting.

I agree, Starvation Survivor is better. A couple of years ago I saw what I imagine was a Survivor inspired show, but it was teams of Aussie and Kiwi military types who went on challenges that took about 5 or so hours to complete and took some skill to do. That show was awesome.

Was that the one that was hosted & narrated by Rudy Boesch (of Survivor Borneo fame)?

They’ll probably put it up for grabs again.

I hope they chuck it in the ocean. Stupid idea.

Hey, didn’t they do an old vs young before?

I’m not sure why there’s so much hate for Marty. He and the ER doc are really the only sane geezers there. Oh yeah, the pig tail lady is OK, too.

Yes, somewhat–season 12, Survivor Panama: Exile Island. Four tribes were split by gender and by relative age, which lasted one episode before the tribes were mixed up.
