Survivor 10-13-10 (maybe open spoilers)

Hey, Stupid Tribe! Roosters neither lay eggs nor are necessary for egg-laying to happen. Kill the damn rooster, not one of the hens!

That is exactly what my wife and I were yelling.

Jane would never have let them do that. She strikes me as someone who’s wrung a few chicken necks in her life…

Hey, get your mind out of the gutter.

shudder

No, editors of Survivor, I’m sorry but you won’t make me like Naonka. That ship sailed. She is an awful person and all the soft music and sob stories isn’t going to sway me.

Why am I not surprised Brenda is awesome at spitting out mouthfuls of fluid?

At least Alina has a shot now. She is the only person there not crazy, douche-y, stupid or all of the above. Yve too I guess but she is toast.

Oh, were were incredulous over the hen-vs-rooster thing here, too. DumbASSes. Only thing I can figure is they are all so ignorant that they didn’t know roosters didn’t lay eggs, or that “rooster” meant male, or something that makes sense beyond THEY DUMB.

NaOnka still sucks, and she is indeed like a teenager–she is all irrational overrreaction and drama. Ick.

And when will people learn that saying things like “We are in control of this game” guarantees you are in fact not?

If ever there was a time for a women’s alliance, it is now. They’ve voted out three relatively strong men in a row, Dan is useless, and a few of the younger men don’t seem to be very acute mentally. Cirie or Parvati would have already got this thing figured out and cruise into the finals. I just don’t see any one of the women who have the smarts and the strength of character to pull this off, though.

Marty better get voted off soon or he will go a long way. Yve seems to be the ultimate under-the-radar player.

My first thought. Buncha morons that tribe is.

Ugh, Tyrone. You were doing so well in fighting your instincts and letting Jimmy Johnson and Marty and Jimmy T take the leadership roles, but with the three of them gone you got stupid and started ordering people around! DOOOOOM!

I was hoping Naonka would get voted out just because I hate her, but that would’ve been a lame way to go. I want her to go because her tribemates finally get sick of her, not because she wimps out.

I think Brenda will go far in this game. She seems to have the combination of looks, personality and smarts that presents a path for younger women in Survivor to do well. She’s already got a strong alliance, people trust her, and she seems good enough at challenges to pull out some ones at the end. Also she’s getting a fair amount of screentime, which also makes me suspect she goes far.

I really think Marty is playing this game too many days ahead. Voting off Jimmy Johnson and Jimmy T were not smart moves for the time in the game they were. Pre-switchup, he was thinking they had the next two votes plotted out… yes, but that doesn’t do you any good if you go into the merge down compared to the younger tribe. And the switch up showed just how bad his strategy was. Now he’s on a team where he is definitely in the minority. I think if La Flor had lost the challenge, he’d be on the chopping block (though some of the younger tribe seemed to think he was looking frazzled and possibly on the losing end of tribal votes, when he was really the mastermind… kinda like Russell and the “women’s alliance” last season). Divulging the immunity necklace might’ve been good in the short term to get people to not vote for him because of it, but I think it also clues everyone else into knowing that he’s the strategist to get rid of. (Telling everyone he’s a grandmaster in chess next week likely won’t help that either).

I dunno about Yve being under-the-radar. She’s been so under-the-radar she might just be along for the ride. Still possible though - she’s just gotten almost no screentime to really form much of an opinion. I’m much more impressed by Jane, though. I think the switchup helps Alina the most, she had ended up on the wrong side of her tribe split through seemingly bad luck (the four “minorities” deciding to make a minority alliance, plus Chase because he has the hots for Brenda). But now the split forces the other young’ins to ally with her, giving her a chance to form a new alliance (and possibly get rid of someone like Naonka, who everyone will realize is a liability).

Also for some reason, Chase has “blindsided by his majority alliance one or two weeks after the merge” written all over him. Dunno why.

Who the heck was that guy comforting NaOnka with the rainbow story? Was that his first screen time this season? He looked so unfamiliar I thought he was a production guy.

That’s Chase, the one who’s panting after Brenda and Benedict-Arnolded his first alliance because they were targeting her, leading to loudmouth Shannon being voted out.

Bah, these people are driving me nuts!

Marty’s strategy is shaky at best, and a handful of the younger players had some vague alliance going, but other than that, nobody seems to be playing the game at all! Fabio even said out loud to Marty, “Uh, we don’t really know what we’re doing.” No kidding, really?

I did kind of like Marty calling everybody out for letting NaOnka’s behavior slide. I wasn’t sure if revealing that he has the idol was a smart move, but then again I think Jane would have outed him before too long. (She knew, right?) So he looks better by doing it himself. I’m not a huge Marty fan, but so far he wins by default in my book.

One more thing regarding the chickens… If they’re going to eat one (be it hen, rooster, or whatever), why do it right before Tribal Council? What’s the point? Wouldn’t you want a good protein-based meal before, say, a challenge? From a strategic standpoint, they just wasted a bird. (Plus, there’d be one fewer person to share it with if they’d waited.)

Then, they vote Tyrone out because he’s bossy and ate too much chicken… Even though he’s a big strong guy and they have at least two members who are physically almost worthless. This is truly the “Short Attention Span” version of Survivor.

Stupid Probst blog didn’t call out the Stupid Tribe for killing a hen over a rooster either…but the commenters take care of that oversight. Blue tribe seems cursed this year, regardless of the shuffle.

I am shocked that no one was able to tell the difference between a rooster and a chicken. Eat the stinking rooster first, not the chicken! Next week we will see them wondering why only one of their birds is laying eggs.

I’m a bit miffed that Tyrone got voted out. I really wished they would have taken NaOnka out first, but I guess he got on their nerves.

I’m not sure about whether Marty is in trouble or not, I’ll reserve my judgment until next week on that point.

I’ll be honest. While I can tell the difference between a rooster and a hen (they’re both chickens, Mr. Costanza), I did not know that you don’t need a rooster in order for the hens to lay eggs. So on those grounds, I give them a pass for killing one of the hens.

I still have a problem with the timing, though.

“Survivor” physics question: assuming it was the same ball (which it didn’t necessarily need to be) what material would be buoyant enough to float in the water tube and heavy enough to break a tile?

Did the ball float in the tube? I don’t think it did…the tube was set up to tip over and dump the ball out once the water rose to a certain level…how they managed to do that I’m not sure…

The thing that really worries me about Naonka is that she’s so hateful, and has shown herself to be so emotionally weak, is that she’s the perfect person to take with you as far as possible (all the way to F2/3, if you can). She’s the Johnny Fairplay of this season.

I think I noticed that it was Marty who dropped the ball twice. Meaning that he’s not likely to get as much ‘got to keep him for challenges’ cred with the new tribe. Which probably helps Jane and Jill.
