Seriously, 10 of the 20 cast members are from California, including 7 from LA. What the hell?
I’m used to the California-centrism by now. It’s just kind of a given. I assume it’s producer laziness more than anything- Survivor’s going to be a cheap show with solid ratings as long as Probst is onboard. Why go out of their way to find contestants? I can’t imagine they’re watching tapes anymore, really.
At least we’ve got the rare Minnesotan on board this season - Ashley. The only other one I can think of is Sally from Exile Island.
Agreed on both counts. Nearly every under-30 guy felt the need to throw some variation of “I could charm the pants off any woman” into his blurb. :rolleyes:

And 20 is a huge number to start with – will there be some big eliminations early on, do you think? (Five teams of four, and one team gets eliminated?)

That article says that Survivor orginated in the U.S. That’s not true, is it? I recall there being some controversy when it debuted in the US because of something that had happened in another version, like someone had committed suicide.
There are rumors that another show just started filming, also in Samoa, and it is an All-Star cast. If the rumors are true, it has a f’ing awesome cast.
It’s based on a Swedish show, apparently, though the Survivor “brand” spins off from the American version.

The only way to make All-Stars work any more is by doing the Fans vs Favorites thing. All you get for All-Stars are contestants with no lives.
Although I would watch if there was a chance Coach would get eaten by a crocodile.
eta: That’s it! Make the All-Star show a true “Survivor” show. Put some blood into it. Leave open the possibility that all the contestants might not make it out alive.

Betsy Bolan is a 48 yr old police officer from New Hampshire. Don’t ask me why I remember this but IIRC, Debb (Survivor; Australia) was a corrections officer from New Hamphire.
They must be planning to have the reunion in LA so they can save on Air Fares to LA.

[spoiler]I like this cast, with the exception of Rupert and Fairplay. They are useless. You have some of the strongest challenge monsters in Survivor history (Stephanie, James, Tom, and Ozzy) some of the social game players (Tina, Jenna, Parvati, Amanda), some characters (Jerri, Tom, Twila, John-Robert, Coach), and the ultimate schemer and I think the greatest player in Survivor history in Cirie.
