Survivor Seaon 33 Starts Tonight (Also RE: TAR)

10/26 show:
Really happy that Adam flipped and had the guts to vote out Figgy over Ken. I was thinking that the producers seem to have set Ken up for the long haul (lots of showing him thinking strategy without showing why he’d be set up to fall), but was still worried going into that vote.

Figgy really didn’t see it coming, she went from really happy to crying real quick.
Why are you spoiler boxing? This thread has basically become the open spoiler discussion thread.

I’m glad Adam flipped too, from the point of view of making an enjoyable show. Figgy and Taylor’s reactions were great. I love it when voted out players cry as they walk away. But I don’t see how it was a good move for him strategically. The millennials still outnumber the xers by 8-6, and he’s now pissed off his original tribemates. I get that he’s trying to do a big move to go to the jury with, but I think it was too soon, and he’s just put himself on the chopping block right after the millennials kill off the x-ers.

Good challenges this week too. The blindfolded player challenges are always fun to watch. I did notice Ken walking with his hand in front of his crotch - good strategy.

Michaela is clearly getting the winners edit. She’s basically the 800 lb. gorilla of this season. I’d be terrified of plotting to vote her off - if you come at the king, you’d best not miss.

Just figured I’d spoiler box it in case anyone forgot what time the show was on and wandered into the thread.

I like Michaela a lot but I just can’t see her winning. I can see her coming across as abrasive to the others (they focused on her bossing Hannah around during the ball-guiding after Hannah had her panic attack earlier) and the others already know she’ll be a tough out in challenges once they get to the individual stage.

I think Adam’s banking on being able to make his own new alliance instead of worrying about Millenial vs. Gen-X at this point. He might’ve figured that his buddy Zeke is doing the same in the other tribe since they managed to get CeCe voted out of a tribe that was 3-2 in favor of Gen-X.

I think Adam made the right move and not just because Figgy was annoying. I think he’s assuming, and I agree, that the Millenial team will fracture at the merge. And even if they don’t fracture immediately, until they fracture they’ll have bigger problems than getting rid of Adam. How do you sell getting rid of Adam to Zeke and Hannah? I think the Millenials only have the numbers on paper ;furthermore, I think they deluded themselves into thinking they’re fine because they have the numbers on paper.

Plus, it was an excellent opportunity to kill the power couple before the merge happens and they’re protected again.

It does have the disadvantage of having Taylor wanting blood. If you’re Adam you need to make sure Taylor is not on the jury.

I’m not sure I agree. The millenials still have numbers, but Zeke, Hannah and Michaela are all in play, I think.

I think the move Adam made is very much a “play to win vs. play for 6th” vote. If he stuck with the core of Taylor, Figgy, Michelle, Will, Jay, Adam (and the others didn’t flip and blow it up), I think his very best case is 6th. Now, if he assumes that Ken and Jessica are sincere (which I actually doubt, but I see why he might buy it), he has a potential very nice path to final 4 or 5 with an obvious late target in Ken and a nice goat for the final TC in Jessica.

Just watched it, satisfying. That’s my least favorite tribe, but I do kinda root for Ken - he seems to the sentient being of the tribe.

Seems to Michaela’s least favorite tribe, too. Ballsy giving aid to another tribe at an elimination challenge. She’s my favorite player this season. Not only a challenge monster, but also timed the walk up on the schlubs with the idol perfectly. I agree that she might get under the other players’ skins, but I think she’s great from a viewer’s perspective.

I didn’t much care for Figgus at first, and the more I saw of her, the less I liked her. She seems like one of those people who’s been getting her way all her life, and feels entitled to get her way whether she’s earned it or not. In addition to being personally glad to see her go, I think it was a nice move on Adam’s part. There’s a lot to be said for taking charge of one’s own game rather than riding along in someone else’s alliance, and I think the generational divisions are already starting to crumble.

It will be interesting now to see if Taylor is really as stupid as he seems, or if he’ll have any sort of game without his girlfriend telling him what to do. I suspect the former.

So what’s your dream alliance if they merged right now?

I’d like to see David, Ken, their lady friend who has the special reward, and the two Oklahoma boys team up.

David, Ken, Jessica, Zeke and Adam, I think. I don’t DISLIKE Chris (the other Okie), but I’m kind of meh on him…he was part of Paul’s core alliance at the beginning (and I really didn’t like Paul that much).

Brent and Chris are easy on the eyes (to me), but I don’t particularly want them to win.

What. The. What.

Poor Michaela. She was just too strong. Athletic and strategic is a death sentence. I’m going to miss her.

But good lord, I believe her like I’ve believed no other reality contestant when she says “I’ll just get rich some other way.” If anyone can do it, it’s her.

I could not agree more. She was my favorite. But yes with her spirit I really believe that success is inevitable.

Sorry to see her gone.

She flashed a great smile early TC and she had a lot of charisma. I liked the way she got snippy with Probst.

As soon as Jay floated the idea of voting her out I knew she was gone. Like I said before, I just didn’t think she had a chance to win it all. She was doing too well at challenges and didn’t seem to have any tight alliances, which is a good way to get voted out in this day and age. She’d do well in previous seasons that had a lot of follower-types but the last few seasons have had a lot more gamers.

I bet she’ll be back for the next returning players season, though.

Good riddance. Michaela was a bossy, egotistical bitch. And now we get to see that she’s a sore loser, too! Hannah might have another panic attack, though.

Well, I called that one completely wrong. Sorry to see Michaela go. Though Taylor’s “Then I will destroy you” was just adorable. He’s less threatening than David.

And I just found this article - Taylor had a pregnant girlfriend at home while he was flirting with Figgy.

I bet she’s back as a fan favorite on another season.

I really don’t like the direction the game has evolved in the last few seasons. Anyone with an ounce of talent and initiative gets targeted even before the merge.

The sniveling little weasel who orchestrated the ouster gained nothing as the merge happens next week. He goes into the merger with a fresh target on his back.

The new rule is to not be a useless bump on a log or, under no circumstance, show any skill or talent for the game. It’s the Battle of the Milquetoast and Mediocre. Think of the best players the in the history of the game who never would have seen the merge these days. No Parvati. No Boston Rob. No Kim Spradlin. No Tony or Hatch or Tom Westman. All too competent for the current game.

I hope they put these losers through hell for the second half of the game. No reward challenges. Make them punishment challenges. If nobody finishes the challenge in an allotted time, take things away from them. Make them march the long way home. Make them hate each other for being useless.

Did you forget forget that Cici, Lucy, and Rachel got voted out pre merge?

They have to vote out someone every week. There’s never a 50/50 split between players and hangers-on. If a season has five good players, it’s a great season.
