Survivor New Jersey: What Exit?
Rupert’s a nice guy and all (if insecure), but I was hoping the $1M would go to someone who actually played the game well. In Pearl Island he finished somewhere near the middle of the pack, and in All-stars he finished fourth but really only because he was carried by Rob and Amber. He never did a single thing to lengthen his stay in the game, except for a last minute half-hearted attempt to get Jenna not to vote him out at the end. He could fish pretty well, apparently, but his shelter was a disaster and so was the raft he designed. Like I said, I liked him as a person, but he was not a very good player.
I voted for Rob. No, the other one – Rob C. I looked at all the All-stars who had not already won the game and figured that he was the one who played the best. Dammit, he should have won Amazon, not that stuck-up airhead Jenna.
I have to admit I wouldn’t have minded seeing Big Tom win. But I just knew that teddy-bear Rupert was unstoppable.
I think this precedent will have an interesting effect on the show. The next group of players will have to wonder if there’s going to be a similar poll and won’t want to risk alienating viewers by behaving too ruthlessly.
I’m sure Mark Burnette is aware that the popularity $1 million has the potential of diluting the deviousness that makes the show so popular. All he has to do is make it clear to the contestants before each future game that there will be no second million. Burnette doesn’t miss a thing, so I’m sure he’s worked this out already.
I’m sure after reading this, Burnett is going to cancel next season. How can they possibly go on?
