It looks like a good cast to me. Yes, a lot of young, good looking ones, but that is preferable to the usual 70 year old who gets kicked off third when he figures out that “this was a lot harder than I thought it would be.”
I also am not of the belief that anyone good-looking is necessarily dumb and/or useless.
I don’t have a problem either with returning characters, as long as they are good ones, as these two are. It adds an interesting dynamic to the game, unlike the awful Redemption Island concept.
I prefer the alpha type personalities to play the game. I would rather see 16 “Boston Robs” than 16 players like the two gals that Boston Rob carried to finals. Remember those two? I remember their butts but I do not remember their names.
They really need to go back to shuffling the tribes at least once before the merge. Preferably before any one tribe gets an overwhelming advantage. Pagongings are boring.
Coach: pretentious jackass. I hope he has some minor and fully recoverable injury but it’s enough to get him out on medical week one.
Ozzy: Amazing player, but he’s had his chances. Could be they want to give him a win like I think they wanted to give Rob the win (But to Rob’s credit, I think he played the perfect game last season).
That is just bizarre. While Ozzy got voted out with both Idols, he didn’t really suck at the social game. He was the kinda guy that everybody liked and had it good with everyone. He just got cocky because of that.
But just being good with everyone and well liked by everyone isn’t playing a good social game, especially if you’re a challenge monster like Ozzy. All it does is get a target painted on your back by the actual social players who create a strong alliance with a good strategy. That’s what I think Probst means by “social game” - the ability to work with an alliance or alliances to advance your own cause, including the jury vote.
So Russell and Ozzy both sucked at the social game, but for very different reasons - Russell made sure that almost every member of the jury hated him passionately, while Ozzy just tried to coast on his challenge talent and general likability.
I’ll watch to see Whitney Duncan. I like her music. Also I’ve been following news on her cousin Holly Bobo. Holly was abducted from her parents home in April, and still not found.
Whitney blogged that she’ll be wearing a pink bracelet for Holly on Survivor. I imagine they’ll mention it sometime during the show.
But wasn’t he part of a strong alliance? He just got blindsided in the end. While he wasn’t a social game master, like say Parvati, to say he is as bad as Coach is just ridiculous.
I have a feeling that they already decided on Coach to come back, but they either couldn’t decide who else should come back or couldn’t get who they wanted (Phil?) so they just picked Ozzy at random.
BUMP Survivor-South Pacific Debuts tonight with a 90 minute episode. Coach and Ozzy are back. Uh oh. Hopefully these cast members watched Boston Rob win last time. But probably they will be star-struck.
Coach and Ozzy aren’t qualified to touch the hem of Rob’s jock in the social game. Zero chance of a repeat of last season’s “returning hero makes his own fate.”
