Yes, announcing the idol has worked when the rules were different–there were two seasons when the idol could be played after the votes were read. In these two seasons, the idol holder basically went unopposed to the end; notably, Yul (who went on to beat Ozzy in the final tribal council), used it to flip a player at the bottom of the opposing majority alliance.
I had to to watch today on the DVR and I’m very happy so many nice looking women are left. It just adds a little enjoyment to my evening.
I dunno, seems like the mass exodus of hot chicks began last week and remains in full swing.
I finally figured out why I think Brandon looks like a dyke.
Yeah, I’m underwhelmed but agree with you that we need to wait for the merge. Things usually pick up then.
I can’t believe that Brandon basically swung the vote. What a dumb-ass move to vote out a stronger player instead of a weak one. They can’t afford to lose more ICs.
Did I catch the “I love you” exchange at the end? Was that Coach and Brandon proclaiming their bromance? Coach is, of course, lying.
I’ve never seen a season with Coach before, but man is he boring. I thought he was going to be crazy like Phillip, instead he’s just kind of weird like the guy who works in the copy room of my office, just weird enough that I don’t want to go out to a happy hour if he is there, not weird enough that I have to to to a happy hour if he is going to be there.
Nah, he was never “crazy” like Philip. He has calmed down a lot since his original appearance, though. He actually is trying to be normal, which I can see is making him more boring. Check out his first season. He was a hoot.
I also like Coach’s poem at this tribal council.
Hard to explain how he was, but look at everyone’s reaction. He’s crazy.
He’s repulsive because he has such an extremely high (and extremely unwarranted) opinion of himself. And he has some crazy idea that you’re supposed to play this game “with honor”, although he’ll find 10 excuses whenever he has to do something “dishonorable”.
Yeah, I would wish he would drop the “honor” thing. He’s clearly realized that the honor thing is a bad strategy. If he tries to really play the game while still spouting that “honor” crap it’s going to bite him in the ass if he makes it to the end.
Another passenger here riding Coach on the (no) Love Train. Most. Pretentious. Person. EVAR. The way this guy deludes himself into believing that his every action and choice is made with righteousness and honor irks me to no end. Mikayla didn’t disobey your orders… because you didn’t give any: you made a limp suggestion and she declined. It’s so transparently obvious about Edna being in your back pocket and yet it seems like the only one who doesn’t recognize that is YOU! (Umm, and it started as an alliance of five, not six, Brandon – Edna was not part of it.)
Beyond that, I do enjoy this season for the most part and appreciate there being some intelligence in the group with the likes of Jim, Albert, Cochrane and… Albert’s closest ally, her name escapes me. I agree, though, that the whole returning contestant thing blows.
That was an awesome dissolve from Brandon to Russell and back… but not really accurate. The two couldn’t be more different when playing the game of Survivor. Brandon’s nuts, but I give him an out because he’s a kid who was raised poorly and is still blinded by youth. Trust me, kid, if you grow up, you’ll see a world comprised of many shades of gray – and I’m bettin’ you’ll start to see them some time this season… or immediately thereafter.
BTW, Elyse was runner-up in a Miss American Contest? Boo-ya.
I’ve never particularly liked Brandon, he’s always given off a major creeper vibe to me, but that bit about how “there is no gray, only black or white” really made the hair on the back of my neck. That’s the kind of stuff that people start saying before they’re sharpening their machetes 24/7 and the rest of the camp has to start sleeping in shifts so that nobody starts getting big chunks of their hair cut off during the night.
Hair? That’s the best case scenario if Brandon starts wandering around with a machete in the middle of the night.
