Survivor: South Pacific October 26 2011

I think Coach’s religiosity is completely cynical. In previous seasons he’s been some kind of half-assed Buddhist, but now he’s all Jesus-y…I’m guessing solely as a way of manipulating his tribe. (And I think the editors are onto him, by giving him the Kung Fu edit, with sun and hawk sound effect).

Something I’ve noticed in the past few episodes: I believe that during post-production, they’re adding some Probst play-by-play to the challenge, in order to highlight things that will be important later. For instance, Jeff shouting “Cochran is really screwing up the rope! He’s really pissing off his tribemates! Boy, if they lose, his ass is on the line at TC!!” (ok, I may have extrapolated a bit). It’s totally fake, and only serves to telegraph who’s going to win the challenge.

I would dearly love to see Ozzie lose the RI duel.

I think that was just a beach, and I assume he’s doing something he thinks is Tai Chi. He probably learned it while be held captive by Amazonian Indians.

So what happened to the normal timing of immunity - TC? They finished the challenge in broad daylight, they show the winners going off to the movies; and then the losers are returning to their camp in pitch darkness; TC is the following night. What gives?

Maybe they had to use the Tribal Council set as “Survivor Cinema”?

No, he said he learned it in a Tibetan monastery. Don’t bother googling it though - it’s only passed down from master to student.

Remember, from his first season, he told us about his martial art that you couldn’t Google, since he was its last practitioner in the world? Oh, Coach.

I thought that was Rick Moranis.

BTW: Someone should tell him the upturned collar thing isn’t hip or edgy. Maybe he’s doing it ironically.

Wait, so he’s a hipster, too?

Can you think of anyone hipper than Rick Moranis?

Oh, wait…

Can I make a comment about religion here?

He’s stringing along the other Christian in his tribe, lying to him and allowing him to believe that it is their god that is helping them out in the game.

That Benjamin piece of trash is stupid and worthless, but he has no problem using other ignorant idiots that make religion a common interest.

I think this season of Survivor should be a teaching course in Christian Sunday schools – to teach children about stupidity in believing fantasies.

Might be a reference to how Wayne and Garth would drop to their knees with “We’re not worthy! We’re not worthy!!”. I think Coach said something similar.

Actually, there is an excellent Sunday school teaching moment here – it can even be tied to a gospel verse: Matthew 7:15.

I prefer starting at Matthew 6:5, straight on through to 6:7 or so.
