Swahili Translation Help: "Shiriki Utundou"

Hello folks,

I run a fan site for Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan. There is a new attraction “Tower of Terror” opening this fall in one of the theme parks here. The background of the ride involves a billionaire who collects relics from ancient ruins. One thing he got from an ancient African site was a small idol statue. The idol is cursed because it was removed from its original site. This curse is the basis for the terror in the attraction.

In the attraction’s official wesbite there is an inscription written inside a notebook. It reads in katakana: シリキ・ウトゥンドゥウ (shiriki utundou)

I have found through online sources that “shiriki” means “join, come together, unite, etc.” in Swahili. But what does “utundou” mean?

My Disney Fan Site (Includes English translation of the Japanese site)

Official Attraction Website (In Japanese / Requires Macromedia Flash to view)

Thanks in advance.

“Untundu” can mean: Mischief, mischievouness, capriciousness, precocity, troublesomeness, wilfullness

Thanks very much Szlater! I’ll post up a blog entry with your credit and link on my site.

Taking a quick look at Szlater’s link, it appears that most Swahili words could be represented quite easily in katakana. Interesting. And, no speculation on what it means? “Here comes trouble.”
