Sweatshirts: full zip or pullover?

Full zip because pulling a sweatshirt on or off generates static electricity and makes me look a lot like Grandma Addams. Pass, thanks.

I want a full zip with pockets on the side. I hate sweatshirts with kangaroo pouch-style pockets–they always end up stretching and sagging and look horrible.

Lemme take this (only slightly off-topic) opportunity to make a pitch for button-up sweaters.

I used to have these when I was a kid. Pullovers are a nuisance, IMHO. I want BUTTONS! I haven’t seen a button-up sweater since almost forever.

I do have a sweatshirt (photo from the web site where I bought it. No, that isn’t me in the pic) I wear it sometimes in cooler weather, but pullovers are just awkward, as is the absence of a pocket. I have to reach into the sweatshirt, down the neck, to get at things in the underlying shirt pocket. I really would like to have a sweatshirt with a pocket or several.

And a button-up sweater. I really want a button-up sweater. Does anyone anywhere even still make these?

Cardigans! Yes! I like button-up sweaters, and they’re hard to find. Nowadays, even sweaters are more likely to have zippers than buttons.
They exist, but they are hard to find.

GMTA!

This exactly. And I agree the button up sweaters are rare. I have one but it only has three buttons. Wtf. Zippy sweaters are the norm now.

As often as I answers “depends”, I should be the spokesman for an adult diaper company…

  • V neck sweaters should be pull over, though I don’t wear them often.
  • Jackets, whether hooded or not (and I include “hoodies” in this category), should be full zip.
  • My go-to cold weather, long sleeved shirt is button up flannel.

So it is written, so let it be done.
