Sweet or savory?

For the purposes of this poll, I’m trying to find out if your sweet tooth or “savory tooth” is more dominant.

For me, it’s definitely savory. After a dinner, if I have room for something else in my belly, I’d almost always rather try a different kind of meat or salty snack rather than order an ice cream or the like. Don’t get me wrong, I like sweets. But if you hand me a bag of chocolates and a bag of popcorn, I might eat a few chocs and feel like that’s enough, but the popcorn bag is gonna be empty.

So are my preferences against the norm? I’m a dude, just to see if this breaks down by gender.

Savory by far. Not really a big fan of the sweets.

Savory without question. I have no problem avoiding the candy dish at work. But I have no self-control when people bring in chips, dips, crackers, and the like.

Sweet.

Much to my demise and consternation…

Demise?! You’re dead?
I like sweet, though a brownie sundae sounds absolutely nauseating. EEWW.

Actually, I kinda like 'em. I wasn’t trying to pick overly disgusting foods as the joke part of the poll to turn people off. Maybe I should’ve gone that route though, and listed the double whopper up there as well

I like sweets, but I never have a hard time saying no to something sweet. But put a favored savory dish in front of me and I will probably eat even if I am not hungry.

Moving from IMHO to Cafe Society, wherein most foodie discussions are found.

It is killing my morbidly obese sisters so I have some metal images to keep me from getting too far along in my obsession. But it can be a problem, yes.

I’d prefer fried dough, myself…

Ten years ago my answer would have been sweet, unequivocally.

Over the last few years I’ve noticed a definite shift towards savory. If I’m foraging after dinner and there’s a piece of chocolate cake next to a hunk of nice sharp cheese, I’ll take the cheese more often.

I still love baked goods and candies but am more discerning about the quality than I used to be. I can walk away from a generic grocery store sheet cake now.

You don’t have an “either or both” option. I love either/or.

As I graze through my life, I tend to alternate between the two.

How about YOU have the brownie and slide the sundae this way?

Both! I don’t do it often but I like tapenade on my PB&J.

Sweet still overtakes savory, but as I get older, the savory has begun to edge in. Could be that an ounce of cheese or a 100 calorie bag of popcorn is more sensible than a Reese’s blizzard for a TypeII diabetic and I’ve become accustomed to the change, but if that weren’t a consideration, I’d take something sweet every time. I answered sweet (and I’m a chick:p).

I like both (esp. together), and thus was confused by the first poll option, since I think of BBQ chicken as both savory and sweet.

So I didn’t vote. :stuck_out_tongue:

Of the two, savory is better. But I’m honestly not sure it’s my favorite. When I crave it, I can’t eat too much without wanting something different.

There are times when I will crave sweets, too, but too much will make me start to feel sick. Savory is less of a problem, but sometimes it will make me sick, too.

Also, sweet stuff tends to leave a very sweet aftertaste–I think that’s why it’s easier to get sick of.
