Sweet potato fries?

What is your opinion on sweet potato fries?

They are awful.

Everyone I know disagrees, but I’m right.

I fucking loathe sweet potato fries.

The flavor and texture of sweet potato are not what I am looking for in a fry.

Hmm. There are 3 people already in this thread who hate them, but only 1 ‘hate them’ vote.

I’m a big fan. I like them better than regular fries, but I really like half and half the best. I like eating them together. I like the sweetness of sweet potato fries, but it can get too sweet, so I cut that down a bit with a regular fry.

I won’t eat them. They are always soggy. Blech. I’d happily eat a baked sweet potato instead.

I voted delicious; but really it depends. I know a couple of favorite restaurants that make them perfectly. But in the wrong hands, they can be a soggy mess.

Not a fan at all. But I voted meh, as I will eat them if they’re put in front of me. I discovered that if you put some habanero and lime on them, they’re just about tolerable.

I like them just fine and have them once in awhile, but I prefer regular potato-type fries.

Pretty much this. There’s a steakhouse near me that does a pretty good job with SPFs, and I’ll often order them there.

Sweet potato fries are okay. I’d probably describe french fries the same way: okay.

They’re alright. I know one place that does a decent skinny-cut version - more or less crispy exterior, more or less fluffy interior. With a nice aioli they’re not bad. I probably order them 20-25% of the time.

I like them but its rare there made right ……

I like sweet potatoes, baked or fried.

I rarely see sweet potato fries at restaurants. I would order them if available.

I’ve only ever had them one time and they were homemade, baked and then drizzled with just enough olive oil and salt for a hint of flavor, so not fries properly speaking. They were delicous.

I love em, and will order them instead of regular fries if they are available. I also keep a bag in the freezer so I can make them when we have hamburgers or turkey burgers at home.

There was one place I ordered them, though, where they came out coated in cinnamon sugar. I don’t know who’s dumb-ass idea that was, but they were horrible. So now when I order them I have to check to make sure they don’t put anything on them.

I like regular old French fries with Heinz ketchup so much, that I rarely order/make sweet potato fries. If regular potatoes didn’t exist, I’d eat SPF all the time.

I generally prefer/order SP fries (or chips) over regular when given the chance. But, as others have noted, both can be made well or poorly. I prefer SP fries thin, while I like nice thick skin-on regular fries.
