Why is it necessary for someone to swerve left to turn right or the other way around? You are not driving a 60 foot tractor trailer, you’re driving a Honda Civic. You don’t have the turning radius of a freight train.
There is a separate turning lane for you. Why do you even bother to get in that lane when you are going to shoot over the opposite way as I try to go by.
Is it because you want to see me jump into the opposite lane? Do you find this amusing? Does it just make your day to watch other people jump when you move?
This is something that has always pissed me off and I cannot understand it! There is absolutely no viable reason for someone to do this.
Will someone please explain to me why this is necessary!
Well, when I am turning into a narrow drive I will start the turn by going a bit to the opposite direction, so that I am more fully turned when I enter the driveway and less likely to roll over the corner of the curb. I drive a Honda Civic. I don’t ‘swerve’ out of my lane, though.
The only accident I’ve had was when a student driver pulled over all the way to the right to make a left turn into her driveway; I passed her on the left and she drove right into the back of my car. She was so far over to the right I thought she was parking, in spite of having her left turn signal on (she had been driving erratically up to that point, and I thought it was just one more stupid thing). There are very, very few times that drivers in anything less than a semi need to “swing right, turn left” - if you actually do need to do this, pull over, wait until there is NO TRAFFIC, then make your turn across the lanes.
