(NB: Americans and others who drive on the wrong side of the road - please just mentally transpose left and right in this post)
You’re in the left lane of two and you’re turning left, I’m just about to pass you in the right lane because you’re slowing down to turn.
Immediately before you turn left, you do this weird swerve to the right, halfway across the lane I’m in, causing me to brake sharply, why the hell do you do that?
You’re not a rally driver trying to take the corner in a controlled skid.
You’re not driving an artic and need to take it wide
It’s a nice easy corner that’s been designed for you to just easily turn into it and you are driving a rusty Cortina.
My pet peeves are the idiots at a junction and turning across the traffic (where’s there’s no feeder lane) and they wait for the lights to turn green before indicating. You sit there like a complete lemon until the lights turn red again and they cross. Drives me bananas.
Second against the wall will be those that pull out onto your lane from a side turning causing you to brake hard – you look in the rear mirror and there’s no other traffic for 300 fucking miles: Was it so hard to wait a couple more seconds ? Retard !
Oh and don’t even talk to me about people who insist on overtaking me at 50mph on a road that has just been surface-dressed and has a temporary 20mph limit. I now have a little star-shaped crack in my windscreen thanks to one of these morons.
Hmm, ** Mangetout **. Maybe someone was trying to stage an accident to collect dinero… It happened to me. I slammed into the con woman, so it looked like my fault. It turned out in my favor because a motorcycle cop came by & cited her for an illegal move. Then I found out she sued a few rental car agencies. This person was looking for shiny, newer vehicles, and she also seemed to be able to ID rental cars. The woman was driving a junker, had an expired driver’s license, and was not insured. Drivers beware!
It is called rounding off the corner. Race drivers round off the corner and then clip the apex. This is called using the whole racetrack. Why anyone would need to do this at normal motoring speed is, and always will be, a mystery.
That “swing right, turn left” thing is a farm thing, AFAIK. The farmers are used to doing it in their combines, and they do it on the road as well. Anyone doing this should be aware that they look like a farmer when they drive this way.
