I see from several online posts that including the AC_RunActiveContent.js file when you use Flash SWF movies on a web page may no longer be necessary. (Microsoft got into a legal dispute over some technology, and for a period of time, they disabled automatic loading of Flash movies–if you had Internet Explorer, you had to click on every single Flash movie to activate it. The AC_RunActiveContent.js file was a workaround to make SWFs load automatically.)
So, does anyone know what the scoop is? I’d love to stop worrying about this sort of nonsense, but my clients won’t stand for a web page that doesn’t work in their visitors’ browsers. So … DID Microsoft not only discontinue this stupid practice, but also “fix” old versions of IE via their automated updates? If so, how many “unfixed” browsers are still out there, lying in wait?
