Swiss Army Men, anyone seen it?

This movie’s been on my radar for a long time but the mixed rotten tomatoes reviews initially had be hesitating to see it in the theatres. However, I ended up catching it last night and I’m so glad I did.

It’s one fantastically weird, surreally inventive movie and one of the best movies I’ve seen all year. It’s one of those films which people love to complain Hollywood doesn’t make anymore so I desperately hope it does well so Hollywood makes more of them.

To say much more would be spoiling the movie. The first 80% features just two characters, played by Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe, with Mary Elizabeth Winstead making an appearance towards the end (and a surprise cameo by Shane Carruth).

It’s by first time feature directors The Daniels (Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan) who established their career directing wonderfully bizarre music videos and short films.

Anyway, you can check out the trailer but I think this is actually a film best enjoyed walking in knowing nothing about it.

It’s Swiss Army Man, not Men. I’ll see it when it comes on circuit here.

Kind of important for the premise, yes!

I do want to see it, because at least some movies should be something you’ve never seen before. First The Lobster, now this one.

From what I heard about the movie, and from seeing the trailer, I just keep thinking, man, if there ever was a role that seemed tailor made for Keanu Reeves, it’s gotta be this one…
