My assumption is that a) he is an idiot and b) he thought only he could see the labels he was using. I can’t imagine he knew they were being directly picked up by the military.

What the FUCK is wrong with the french military that caused them to scramble fighter jets based on a goddamn ATC LABEL? This is truly one of the most idiotic things I have ever heard of. I do agree, however, that the ATCer in question is a complete fucktard, and should be forced to pay for the cost of the military operation in question as well as being fired.
