Does anyone have any experience switching from Zoloft to Prozac? I’m wondering if one has to stop taking the first before introducing the second, or if the switch can be made easily and seamlessly.
Thanks for any help you can give me!

No direct experience but my search results turned up this [http://www.sdh.sk.ca/rxfiles/Antidepr.html"]link](
[url).
It has screeds of information on antidepressants and a table of recommended wash out periods for switching between them.
Fluoxetine PROZAC to Sertraline ZOLOFT is listed as one day (use lower doses of 2nd drug initially; longer tapering period).
Hope this helps. Oh consult your physician/ therapist before altering drug treatments, as a full medical history can be important in making any valid recommendations.
Good Luck
Britt
sorry about the link
hooooooo you caught the right guy on the right day. I take so many anti-depressants that i am too full for breakfast. I’ve been on every ssri out there - zoloft, paxil, prozac, remeron, to name just a few. The doctor would tell you one of a couple of different things. When dealing with SSRI’s it really doesnt matter whether you listen to what any of them would tell you or what i in fact do. Docs will say to either titrate off the old then onto the new. Some would say stop cold turkey wait two weeks then start the new. Me - I just jump from one fying pan into the next.
BUT - this is only with SSRI’s. Don’t screw with anything else (like I do) such dopamine based RI’s like wellbutrin, or opiate antagonists like ultram. These both lower your seizure threshold. I know ive taken too much when i get a headache. Far and away the most fantastic drug for treatment resistant depression is Lamictal - it’s of the anti-epileptic family like depakote and its ugly brother lithium. This is one drug not to binge dose on - A small percentage of population lack an enzyme to metabolize it and you’ll get a fatal rash. Called Johnson’s Syndrome or something like that. Yea, rashes can be fatal.
Thank you, thank you for the information!
