Tell me about Zoloft

New shrink thinks that twenty years taking 60mg of Prozac with meh results is long enough, so he’s changing me to Zoloft this morning. No tapering off the Prozac, just a general switch. ‘The are both SRIs so it should be uneventful.’ :dubious:

So, if I seem even squirrelier than what passes for my normal be understanding.

No, really. How do its effects differ from Prozac? Is a sudden switch like this a good idea? I metabolize the fluoxetine in my system in two days but I’m not to expect feeling the effects of Zoloft for two weeks, like other SRIs?

No one can predict the effect or side effects s of Zoloft vs. Prozac vs. Paxil, et all. What I can say for myself is that for me Zoloft has been a genuine miracle drug, and whenever we’ve experimented with reducing the dose or switching to another drug just to see, I can tell the difference in just days. OTOH, I’ve always been sensitive to the effects of any medicine for anything, and any change of dose.

My side effects are pretty minimal. So minimal that I’m not really sure if they’re linked to the drug. OTOH I tend to be

Too late to edit. There is no second OTOH. It was just a leftover fragment.

I read that withdrawing from prozac can cause significant discomfort. But I also read Zoloft is a very good drug. The lag time may make you sick, with flu-like symptoms. You don’t need that while you’re trying to heal your knees and foot. I hope it goes well.

I was in Zoloft, which helped for a while until it didn’t. I know people who swear by it, and people who give it up. Each person’s reaction is directly.
