It is murder in my eyes. I don’t believe in assisted suicide. I think it should be illegal. This story is totally sick. And how can someone actually want this penis cut off while he was conscious and then eat it. Yuck, disgusting.
Is “but he said I could!” also a legal defence against murder in the U.S.? Also, is cannibalism illegal in here in Gringoland? Good God, I hope so.
Lis: what the “S” stands for depends on the publication, e.g., our local “Thrifty Nickel” runs lots of “SWCM, 50ish, seeks lady friend for bass fishing, line dancing, and possible LTR,” and they mean “single.” Also, the “C” means Christian.
Hmmm…is it actually “gay” to eat someone’s penis? Seems like something entirely different from gay.
'pos: I don’t know of ANY publication where the S means single rather than straight.
And of course it’s not gay to eat someone’s penis. But neither is it gay to keep someone’s head in your fridge. Nonetheless, Jeffrey Dahmer–and pretty clearly this cannibal–were/are, on top of being operatically psycho, gay.
And Bippy, howbout GWC seeks SM? or FYM (Fine Young Meatpuppet)?
Heh ever publication around here S = Single. 'Course we don’t have alot of openly gay people here.
Isn’t there a movie S.ingle W.hite F.emale? So it’s hardly THAT uncommon.
The movie Single White Female was based on the book SWF; in the book the S stood for straight. This should have been obvious; S always stands for straight in roommate ads.
lissener, do you think I’m making this up just to contrary?
I’m sure in Seattle, it means “Straight,” and I’m aware that “straight” is now the most widely used meaning. But where I’m at, unless you go 60 mi. north to a “big city” like Urbana, IL, it means “Single.” I believe it has something to do with our proximity to the Amish.
The movie Single White Female was based on the book SWF; in the book the S stood for straight. This should have been obvious; S always stands for straight in roommate ads. (Married couples are less likely to be seeking roommates, and sexual orientation is, for many people, a dealbreaker in a roommate situation.)
Sorry, missed this, 'pos: in “SWCM, 50ish, seeks lady friend for bass fishing, line dancing, and possible LTR” the S stands for straight. People seeking “LTR’s” are assumed to be single unless they state otherwise (MWM, e.g.). If that 50ish WCM is adverizing in a provincial enough paper not to have GWMs, then of course he may THINK his S stands for Single, ever since that stupid movie didn’t have the courage to call itself Straight White Female like the novel, but the reason the S was put there in the first place was to distinguish gay from straight, not single from married.
I haven’t read the linked story, because I don’t think I can handle it.
In fact, I’m more than a little uncomfortable reading all these comments in the BBQ Pit.
heh learn something new every day.
Then what do W and D stand for?
Here’s what I think, though I don’t know how well it’d work in court:
The victim’s desire to participate in cannibalizing himself is, itself, proof that the victim was mentally ill.
This mental illness makes him unable to give consent to the act.
Therefore, even if he agreed, it’s still murder.
Just like it’s still rape if the child says you can do it.
It appears you’re not incorrect, 'poss.
There seems to be a bit of ambiguity to this one. (Of course, I suppose some could construe I took my handle from the Malaysian Rubber Board, in which case my credibility is totally shot…)
Perhaps Cecil will one day look down from on high and give us the Straight Dope.
Sorry FisherQueen just because someone is mentally Ill or abnormal does not mean they are incapable of giving consent.
Better yet. From The Scotsman:
A gentleman of the very old school.
I think there was an MPSIMS thread 'round here when this kook was first arrested. Apparently one of the dopers knew the willing victim. I’d look for it but I don’t want to remember the details.
Words fail me. I thought nothing could disturb me anymore. Apparently I was wrong. What a bunch of sick fucks.
Not necessarily in that order. Now I understand why this sentence didn’t make much sense at first glance.
This deserves a tribute. C’mon! Let’s hear it for Otto.
Why is this against the law? Absent duress, if I sign up to be dissected, cauterized, consumed, killed then eaten, what’s it to The Man?
Don’t want to get into a Kevorkian debate – since letting people die with dignity is the only rational choice – but why is it against the law to, with his consent, eat someone?

the MPSIMS thread.
(Brief foray into the other topic at hand: Here in Chicago, I’ve only known “S” to stand for “single.” Isn’t it obvious by what the person is looking for whether they’re straight/gay/bi?)
