So I just registered for South by Southwest 2006. (The price of a music badge goes up $50 on Friday, 9/30.) This is my first time; I’ve never had the time or the money to go before.
It should be a great chance to learn a little about the music business, see some good bands that I know, and discover some good bands that I don’t.
Anybody else going? Any tips from veterans?
Well, our band, Latex Chihuahua, is putting together a promo-pack in hopes of being selected. Our lead singer played in a band that was accepted a few years ago so hopefully his insight will get us in.
It’s been a while since I’ve been but what we used to do was map out the venues and bands, book a room as far ahead as we could and just have the time of our lives!
Even with 1300 or so bands on the bill, it’s going to be hard to find a band name I like better than Latex Chihuahua.

Have you been to Austin, Doctor J? I’m sure you know it’s filled with bands and venues. It’s a great time the rest of the year too.
