Sydney has its coldest Boxing Day in 122 years

…according to the weather man on this evening’s news. The maximum temperature was only 19C.

And here at my family’s place 120km south-west of Sydney it never got above 13C. It’s been misty and wet and we’ve had the fire burning all day. At least we all now feel justified that our comments about not remembering a colder Boxing Day were in fact correct.

I’m staying at my brother’s place near Canberra. We had porridge for breakfast and I remarked that it must be along time since anyone had that for brekky on Boxing Day in Australia. Guess I was right.
