This is one of those news stories that makes you feel old. I was much too young to experience Emmanuelle in the cinema - it was released before I was born - but it had a long life on VHS and is now presumably out on Blu-Ray. Dunno what modern audiences make of it. Did people actually watch it in mainstream cinemas?
Kristel was a strange sex symbol. She was pretty in a tomboyish way and in another world she might have gone on to have the same kind of career as Jenny Agutter (for example). I don’t think my generation had anything comparable. Pamela Anderson is not the same. Jane March didn’t have staying power.
