System Link X-box HALO, HELP

Yallo, just bought a system link for X-box in order to link two systems together. I have HALO for both systems, however, the sytems won’t link together for four people to play on seperate TVs or I’m doing something wrong. Please help me out. I guess just walk me through it step by step. Thanks. Peace.

What exactly is the problem you’re having? It’s hard for else to help when all we know is that it “won’t work.” Is your TV turned on?

And what do you mean you bought a system link? If all you bought was Cat-5 network cable then you’re going to have to cross it. You can buy crossover ends or cross the cable yourself if you have the proper tools. Do a google search for “crossover cable” and you should find some walkthroughs.

TV is turned on, both x-boxs are turned on, Halo is in both consoles, both systems go to multiplayer and select system link play, characters are selected, it says waiting for host or something like that, so on the other system we go ahead and select map and game type and it says waiting for other console. Nothing happens after that. THanks

You didn’t answer my other question. Did you buy some sort of Xbox kit or just standard networking cable? If you bought the former then it won’t work right away. Xbox requires crossover cable for directly linking 2 systems.

The systems are linked directly via x-box system link cable. It’s not a regular Cat-5 cable.

It’s been awhile since I’ve played Halo but I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong on the software side. Triple check all your hardware. If it still doesn’t work try exchanging your cable or buying some regular crossover cable.

M’kay, me and my genius friends just called X-box help and they said that our games are incompatible; one is “game of the year,” the other is not. They are sending me a free game now though, big plus. Thanks for your help. Peace.
