Some magicians say “Ta Da” when they finish a trick. Where does this come from? What does it mean? Any help appreciated.
I think it’s just an imitation of the music which is supposed to play when something great happens. I mean, try to imagine what a band would play if they were really in sync with the magic show. The magician would wave his wand over his lovely assistant Bruce, and then maybe there’d be a drum role, some magic rigamarole, and the tension would build, and Bruce turns into a rabbit! [insert music here] It should sound a little like “ta-da” and be followed by gasps and applause.
It’s just that some magicians can’t afford a band.
do re mi fa so la ti da?
It seems as if Boris has this one correctly. At least, I found a website that backs him up. Check it out here, under the heading “Words to the Wise.”
