Tabs in Firefox 2.0

I’ve recently installed Firefox 2.0, and I’m having problems with the tabs. In the old version there was an extension **Tabmix **that let you set options for tabs. It doesn’t work with the new version, so there’s some options I can’t set. Most of all, when I click on a link to open in a new tab, I want it to open right next to the current tab. Right now all new tabs open will be the last tab on the right. Is there any way to do this?

Extensions will be updated for compatibility with Firefox 2.0 soon enough.

In my experience, Tab Mix Plus 0.3.5RC2 works just fine. And I like my tabs. (I likely have over a dozen open right now. Things are working wonderfully.)

Hopefully, the Tab Mix Plus team will decide that things are working well enough to finally release a Firefox 2.0-compatible stable build. When that happens, look for it here.

but my color tabs are gone :frowning:
sob

Thanks for that, Derleth, it works fine for me too.

You can also go into about:config and change 2 parms to make tabs work more like the old version:

browser.tabs.closeButtons

  • 0: close box only on current tab
  • 1: close box on each tab (default)
  • 2: No close button on each tab nor on right (use menu)
  • 3: One close button on right (like previous versions of FF)

browser.tabs.tabMinWidth
this sets the minimum width of a tab. When you have more tabs than will fit onscreen based on this width, they start to scroll right & left. Setting this smaller than the default of 100 (say to 10 or so) means that as you open more tabs, they get smaller rather than scrolling. (They will still scroll if you open lots of them.) Since many people dislike the sideways scrolling of tabs, this makes it less likely to happen.

GOOD NEWS

Over the weekend, all the add-ons I liked which failed to work in 2.0 have finally been upgraded!!

Me color tabs are back!!

One of my absolute favorite extensions, Copy Plain Text, still isn’t supported in 2.0. It’s rather annoying.
