Tacos with condiments outiside

My neighbors brought some tacos they made last night. What made them unusual to me is that the lettuce, onions and salsa were on the outside of taco, while the meat was on the inside. Has anyone encountered tacos like this?

What does this mean? Did they just put the veggies on the side so that you could accessorize the taco the way you wanted to? Or to make it easier for you to reheat the meat and shell portion if needed and still have cold crispy veggies? Because I can’t visualize how the stuff could be attached to the outside, so I’m thinking it was a “garnish it your way” presentation.

Not sure what you’re getting at. I cook the meat and put it in the (corn) tortilla, then fold and fry in oil. The lettuce and stuff are outside until I put the taco on my plate. If the tacos were made the previous night, it makes sense not to put the other things in.

Or do you mean they have the stuff on the outside and they mean to eat it with a fork?

Sorry, let me clarify, but Johnny has it. You have the taco with meat on the inside, as you usually have. Then, place the taco on its side on a plate and then put the lettuce, etc on the top of the taco. The top being the side of the taco shell. I ate it like a tostada.
