According to someone on the street, someone round the corner snuffed himself with gas. Loads of fire trucks out there, and there’s been a helicopter hovering. Nothing in the online news so far, and my radio only gets FM.
By “snuffed himself with gas” do you mean self-immolation?
No, the story I’ve heard is that a man turned the gas on in his apartment and asphyxiated himself.
Years ago in the old neighborhood, a guy in an apartment around the corner from my house tried to do that. Apparently the pilot light to the water heater was still on. The explosion blew out my kitchen plate glass window. The guy did not get killed, but it sure left a hole on the block.
Slight hijack…
A few years ago the guys next door to me were renovating and had a ditch-witch and hit a 600psi gas line, no explosion but a 6+ hour evac, haz-mat team in space suits, all of the fire trucks in Houston etc. We were very lucky, Fire Marshall told me no matter how fast I ran if it went so did I, too much gas to quickly. Would have leveled blocks
Please if you have to end it, don’t turn on the gas
Exactly! Its not like gas is rocket science*.
Rocket science is where you try *to get as many people as possible into orbit. Working with gas is quite the opposite…
I found a clip online last night; basically just an overhead shot of the scene. They voiceover said that firefighters found a BBQ grill with ‘a substance’. Since the entire building was not evacuated, I’m guessing he may have used carbon monoxide instead of natural gas.
Nah, you just ride the explosion to safety. That guy doesn’t go to enough movies.
