Take the guns first... Due process second

I disagree with that, as due process is fairly important to us all. But, I do feel that things should be changed so that due process can be expedited in cases where someone is posing a threat, and it shouldn’t require charging with a felony in order to temporarily remove the guns from the environment.

I don’t really think that there are many who are in agreement with the “take the guns first” proposal, and that is not just because we have been against nearly everything else that trump (remember, that is the person who proposed this idea, not a democrat) has proposed.

That is the Fifth Amendment.

Given the wealth of objective evidence and record low approval ratings, I suspect that everyone who is going to realize that Trump is an unstable, uninformed, and spastic provocateur have already done so, and the remaining people who have consistently approved of Trump’s behavior are unlikely to revise their position based upon facts. Proposing gun control may alienate a key demographic of gun owners on the far right of the political spectrum, but given the distance that major companies and organizations are trying to put between themselves and the NRA, I’m not sure how well that will translate to votes for any but the small if vocal bloc of single issue voters. For his dyed-in-the-wool apologists, Trump could still shoot someone on Fifth Avenue (at least if you give him a pistol small enough to fit his tiny ha…never mind, too easy) and not lose their support.

Stranger

We’ll know he has lost that support when he shows up on fox news with a D in front of his name.

‘When pigs fly’ comes to mind…

:smack: D’oh!

Trump will claim 100% approval ratings when it’s down to one house in… (I’m not going to pick on a particular state) that all approve of him. 'cause hey, they all approve of him.

[sub]Except for cousin Jeffery, cause they make him live in the shed.[/sub]

You quoted the 5th, but the relevant protections against unlawful seizure are mentioned in the 4th, so don’t beat yourself up.
I’m personally astonished that “civil forfeiture” is a thing.

The Supreme Court has pretty thoroughly eviscerated the 4th Amendment.

Indeed, to the point where I have serious misgivings about travelling to, or even through, the United States. I bopped down to Plattsburg, NY, last weekend at the request of my girlfriend because she needed to go shopping at a Target (long story) and they’ve all vanished from Canada. Back when me and the family used to make this trip once or twice a year, we’d buy a fair quantity of American currency before leaving because the exchange was a little better than we’d likely get in the U.S. I ain’t travelling in the U.S. these days with more than a hundred bucks cash if I can possibly avoid it. Thank god for credit cards.

That’s wrong too, no matter what the courts say.
