Today is my last day as a local telephone operator, and just to remind me why I am leaving, I have been scheduled for a split shift (in this case, this means 4 hours on, then 4 hours 15 min. off (today–it can be 3-5 hours), then 4 hours back on.)
I can’t believe that I’ve (almost) made it through my two weeks’ notice. I can’t believe that I am going to get my evenings and weekends and holidays back after two years. I can’t believe that the number of people asking me for the time and date and what color underwear I am wearing is going to drop to just about zero as of approx. 9:30 p.m. CDT.
