Take This Lollipop (Facebook Connect)

If you want some creepy fun, you can visit TakeThisLolipop.com and log in via Facebook Connect.

The site uses your log-in to inject your actual Facebook account information into a creepy video. They promise that they won’t store or share any of your info.

What do you think? Do you use Facebook Connect to log in to sites? I never do…I don’t trust the idea.

If you’re not aware, Facebook Connect is a way to log in to sites using your Facebook login. Basically a plugin for site owners to use if they don’t want to program their own login scheme. I’ve never used it on any of the sites I’ve built nor have I used it to log in to a site so I’m not exactly sure what sort of info gets passed on to who. I would have assumed it was merely a Facebook-branded cookie that gets set in the browser but from what I see in the TakeThisLolipop stuff it seems that the site owner gets more info.

Facebook isn’t the only one who does this. I know in the past few days alone I’ve seen “Connect” logins provided by Google, Twitter and AOL as well.

Anyone take the lollipop? Were you scared?
