Taking Chance

Did anyone else watch this last night? Kevin Bacon did an awesome job. I’m glad they explained what the folks at Dover do to take care of the bodies. Those folks rarely, if ever, get any recognition for the difficult job they have.

I highly recommend the movie.

I agree. I watched it from my DVR last night. The best way I can describe it: It’s a dude’s tear jerker.

J.

Glad to hear it’s good. I have it on the dvr.

I cried on and off throughout the whole thing. Excellent job by Kevin Bacon, and it struck me as quite an effective anti-war statement.

Good show. I had no previous knowledge of the subject matter and was attracted to it because of Bacon, whom I like most of the time.

The way things were going at the start, I was fully braced for the body to be missing, some other major malfunction to go down or some pretty negative twist to happen. But that’s just me and how I have become conditioned, especially in movies with the current wars as a theme.

The gentle way that the man on the street and the gal beside him, in all walks of life on the journey, demonstrated, without saying much if anything, how the typical American feels about the men and women in uniform, regardless of their attitude toward the civilian leadership, was not just tear-jerking but profound.

I have not been affected directly and personally with losses in this war, but I know those who have. It’s a hug from some sensitive film-makers to those folks.

The part that had me spitting nails was when the security guy at the airport got in Kevin’s face about his jacket. The cool way Bacon dealt with that was inspiring.

I’ll give the movie a 3 1/2, wihholding that half star because there was a lack of visibility of the opposing view for the most part. For what it tried to say, I think it was a winner.

Thanks for the thread, shellofmyformerself.
