Taking meds too early?

Is there such a thing as taking your meds too early? This week, I’ve been putting my Daytrana patch on and taking my Sertraline and Guanfacine at like midnight instead of my usual 6:00, because I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t go back to sleep. Today, I put my patch on, but by 4, I had trouble focusing. I told my mom about this, and she says it’s because the meds have already worn off by now.

Could this also be why I’ve been having trouble sleeping?

Ask your doctor these questions. Daytrana (methylphenidate) is a powerful stimulant and if you’re having sleep issues while on it, your prescriber needs to know of it, and help you manage when you should be taking your doses/applying your patch.

IANAD, but randomly changing the time you take your meds sounds like a bad idea to me. The timing of medications can make a difference, and may impact their effectiveness. Ask your doctor when you should be taking your meds and carefully follow their instructions. If for some reason you don’t trust your doctor find one you can trust.
