The Taliban has deserted Kabul and there are reports of mass defections by the Taliban. The Northern Alliance has gone from holding 10% of Afghanistan to now holding over 50% of the country.

Best of all, there appears to be a popular uprising by the Afghan people against the Taliban. People are playing music again, shaving their beards, and women can go out in public again without their burqas.

The only bad news is that the Northern Alliance sent some troops into Kabul when they said that they would remain outside the city. They are saying that it was necessary to prevent reprisals within the city. So far, the relatively few reprisals have been against Taliban from Pakistan which is somewhat understandable.

Now if we can just get the Pashtun’s in the south on the same page…

They’re retreating to the stronghold in the south…which is where Bin Laden is most likely hiding.

I heard Bin Laden issued an official statement that he won’t be taken alive. He’s got that right! Finally this guy is in step with the West!

I heard that some of the young men in Kabul were even (gasp) wearing blue jeans.
