So, basically, I’m getting a little tired of people who aren’t me removing things from my car. Thankfully, two out of the three break-ins over the past twelve months resulted in little physical damage (locks and glass were intact), but these were still poor ways to start and end their respective days (and the one time where my car was too damaged to drive, well, let’s just say that wasn’t the best vacation of my life).
Now, the lack of damaging entry points to either my being a total lackwit who forgot to lock his car (which I’d like to think wasn’t the case) in which case nothing short of a brain infusion can help me, or the presence and use of slim jims or something similar. Assuming the latter, what are my choices with regards to don’t-steal-my-stuff technology?
My car already has an electronic ignition-shutting-off and door-locking device which I use (this also has a pretty red light on the steering column which, while cheery, doesn’t look to be much of a deterrent), and I use The Club, but neither really helps prevent the removal of removable items from the vehicle. Is there anything that works well as a deterrent to breaking into my car, or, on a somewhat related note, are newer cars somehow more difficult to break into than my 1996 Honda Accord? (Acura has a promotion with nice lease terms on a 2006 RSX, you see…)
