I live in the Detroit area and am pretty neutral in terms of college sports with the exception of Michigan St. basketball. In terms of football, I usually root for the underdog or the visiting team. In this case though, I’m rooting for OSU because I enjoy it when all the U of M fans have their day ruined. It makes for better sports talk radio.
Plus, it pisses the MIL off.
Congrats to the Buckeyes…represent the Big 10 well and win the BCS!
On to the Rose Bowl for the Hawkeyes (assuming the Rose Bowl selection group has an ounce of sanity)
Yay Buckeyes!!
Oh, my God…I thought they had lost it in the last second…until I realized the Bucks intercepted.
That was an exhausting game to watch. Well, at least Ivylad won’t be a bitch to live with…
Now about the Michigan-Ohio State game. Michigan couldn’t get the job done. As a University of Iowa grad I’m just sorry that one of them had to win, but them are the rules, I guess.
I wonder what the naysayers will say if and when the Bucks win the national title. Will they still forget our convincing win over Washington State (25-7)? How about against Kingsbury and Texas Tech (45-21)? Will they remember that period where we didn’t allow a touchdown between Larry Johnson of Penn State on October 26 and Illinois on November 16?
Naw. It’ll still be, “You guys suck, because you only barely beat Purdue and Cincy.”
Whatever you need to tell yourself. This team’s GOOD.
You guys suck. You just barely won five of your last six games, mostly against teams any real contender for the national championship would have creamed. I’m calling it Miami by at least three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Iowa will beat Washington State in a most excellent Rose Bowl, sealing Ferentz’ coach of the year honors and setting off a celebration all the way from the Mississippi to the Missouri. Go Hawkeyes!
Or perhaps some other Pac-10 team. D’oh!
All of 'em wins, Minty. Who else can say that? The game is about winning. Miami has had its share of close calls, too, but they’ve won them all. Luck? Sure, some. But the better you are, the luckier you get.
Yes, the OSU offense has sputtered without Clarett, but he has over a month to finish healing. Give the defense credit for shutting down everyone they needed to shut down.
Miami will have as much trouble with VT as they did with Pitt, and even Syracuse will give them problems. I’m actually betting on Oklahoma to make the title game instead - Miami’s luck may not hold out any longer.
Well, I was disappointed in the outcome (and what a nailbiter!) but right after the game, my loyalties switched to “Whatever Big Ten Team Is In A Bowl” so I’ll root for OSU in the bowl game.
I guess I’m glad that Michigan didn’t embarrass itself. They played well.
That was a…tense…game.
Gotta love them Buckeyes, though!
Especially for that after game victory riot in which at least 6 cars were overturned and burned.
Asshat Buckeye fans.
You do realize that the vast, vast majority of the cretins, vandals, and hoodlums were non-OSU students, right?
That many, if not most of the damage caused came about from no-good elements that came to campus specifically to break shit, right?
That this sort of thing is not unknown and, while quite sad, should not be heaped upon 99.79% of the 105,000+ football fans in attendance and the many thousand more fans tailgating and watching around/near the campus, right?
Never mind that an organization (Campus Partners) decided for the students to close, then demolish ALL south campus bars, leaving three blocks of gravel lots and nowhere for people to congregate, party, whatnot. Leaving the option of nothing or house party. House parties that spread the drunken revelry around, rather than keep it condensed in a controllable area. House parties that have no bouncers to break up fights so they last no longer than 30 seconds. House parties that can easily spill into the streets and continue, as opposed to the situation with a bar where, once you’re out, you’re out and no more alcohol for you. I’m not going to get into that, because you obviously have no desire to find out anything about the Columbus area, the Ohio State University.
Yes, people were complete and utter jackassi, but that’s mostly random people, and not Buckeye fans. Assholes will take any excuse to be assholes.
Psst… thinks, it’s over here now.
