All of this just makes me sick to my stomach. Even in my smallish town, the two unbelievably heinous acts of child abuse resulting in death happened over the past few months. (note: graphic descriptions of abuse).

Some truly sickening people out there.
Hey Sublight, it’s hard to tell from this story whether the parents were ‘sickening’ or perhaps just not cluey enough to tell that their child was starving. If you are dealing with people of a limited mental capacity in the first place, it’s perhaps not fair to attribute evil intent when they may not know there is a problem in the first place. And from the sounds of the article, that may well have been the case.

That’s true, I didn’t really think about that when I lumped them in with people who seriously wanted their children to die. Hmmm… Not as sickening, true, but not people I’d ever allow near my kids.
Even in the Pit, there are no words fit for people who would do such things to children.
I am normally against the death penalty, but for pieces of crap like these I would happily flip the switch on the electric chair, fire the gun shot, administer the lethal injection, or whatever.

The young man I referred to earlier died overnight. As of the radio news I heard this morning, the parents are being held on murder charges.

This is almost incomprehensible to me. My fifteen year old nephew is approximately this kid’s height, but he’s an athletic 120 lbs. To imagine my nephew at half of that weight is nauseating.
The best thing that could happen, IMO, is that these people would commit suicide in prison, but sadly, that never happens. People like this are incapable of feeling the kind of horror and remorse that it would take to drive them to suicide.
Oh, I remember that so well. I read that so long ago and even now there are times I get seriously depressed thinking about it.
Thankfully unlike Tasha Lanham who was starved to death by her mother and mother’s boyfriend in Pennsylvania while her father fought with CYS to try to get custody of the girl, this little kid is going to have a chance at recovery.
But what kind of a person starves someone to death? I… boggle.

If it makes you feel any better, the prisoner’s have a code about what to do with those who harm children.

I generally avoid reading stories like this one. They bring back horrors from my own childhood I would sooner forget than be forced to face.
Mankind has reached a stated of “calculated distance”. We all are appaled when somthing of this nature happens, but when a father kidnaps, and I’m using the word kidnap, his own child to stop the abuse HE is the one at fault. My father spent a couple nights in jail for my sake.
I know for a fact that had my father not specifically placed a 50 mile clause in the custody papers I would not be here in the condition that I am. That single line may have saved my life.
Phrases like “Justifiable Homicide” come to mind when I think about these types if incidents, and any child abuse for that matter. The terrible thing is, the child killer usually gets a reduced sentance. Were the other parent to kill the abuser he would see life to the death penalty for his actions.
Society has become misguided. Maybe Hannible Lecter wasn’t far off. Maybe Heileins view of a utopian anarchy is really the way we should all exist. But who can say. My childern, when I have them, will feel loved, secure, and know that not only I care for them. I’ve made some very great friends in my 22 years here. A few I consider to be my true family. I know that should somthing happen to me, they would take care of my proginy. Should the reverse happen, I would do the same. Such is the pact we have made.

I immediately thought of that when I read this thread. That story was one of the most horrifying things I had ever read. I unfortunately still vividly remember it. I’ve been meaning to try and find out whatever happened to those sadistic sick fuck “parents” - does anyone know? I am hoping they were murdered painfully while in prison.
