You know, there is a certain notorious poster who is in the Sunshine state. Perhaps you should invite him and his entire army of sockpuppets to attend? Just make sure you poof your hair for him, ladies.
::heavy, wistful sigh::
Alas, that’s not enough notice, and I don’t have enough vacation time saved up anyway…besides, I just started Weight Watchers, and I have a feeling you’d be bad for my diet.
Go over to the Merriment thread and have a body shot, Chef, on me.
Ruffian, you’re an incredibly evil woman (yes, I may be new, but I know exactly who you mean).
Have I told you how much I like evil women?
Hey, I am Fort Lauderdale. What time were you guys thinking of having this meeting? I am probably 4-5 hours away. I have a job interview scheduled for Tuesday, but I have been made a tenative job offer from another company that should firm up Monday. If that offer pans out then I can blow off the Tuesday interview and come to the doper meeting.
Wanderer, we have settled on Tuesday at noon. If you think you can make it, great! E-mail me, or Sani.
I used to live in Lauderdale. I went to high school there.
Here are directions to the Olive Garden where we’ll be meeting on Tuesday, July 26th. E-mail Michi or myself if you need more details.
I won’t know until sometime Monday afternoon how the job thing is going to go, so I will let you know then. I went to Universal Studios in Orlando today. It took me about 3 1/2 hours. How much more time would I need to get from there to where the lunch in Tampa is going to be and is going to Orlando and then to Tampa the quickest way to come from Fort Lauderdale?
It depends what time you are going to start your trip.
Well using tubagirl’s figure of 1 1/2 hours from Orlando to Tampa and my 3 1/2 hours from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando I guess I was planning to start around 6:30am. What do ya think?
Wanderer - if you click on the link for the restaurant I provided above, it’ll give you the address for the restaurant. Go to http://www.mapquest.com or some such site and enter in your address and the address for the restaurant, and it’ll give you the shortest, quickest route from your place to the restaurant. Hope to see you there!
ooo…we might actually have a decent turn out for this thing.
Well, yes, but dammit, I still can’t come! I’m gonna sit over here and pout until a dopefest that I can actually make it to is scheduled…
GolfWidow–maybe on a Thursday?
Wanderer, I would take I-75 if I were you. You probably have to go a little south to get there. But it would not be as out of the way as Orlando. Unless you live very North of Lauderdale. I think you should take Alligator Alley and stay on 75 all the way until you get to the Fowler Ave exit. There is no Busch exit but Fowler is only one street north of that. The restaraunt will not be far from there. This way you can completely stay away from I-4. All that construction sucks. I am positive that 75 will be faster and even less milage.
Michi, who is coming so far? I got my schedule for next week… Count me IN.
Because we’re meeting on Tuesday, I had to change my regular Tuesday appointment to this Thursday, but I swear, other than that, I am available anytime! How about Wednesday at the Ruby Tuesdays on South Florida Avenue?
You might want to take Alligator Alley up to SR60 to Bartow and you can catch I-4 to Tampa from the Polk County Parkway.
BTW, I was at Disney World Saturday! Small world, huh?
Did you go on the Back to the Future and Twister rides? My two favorites at Universal.
Looks like it is me, Sani, you and Golf Widow. Possibly Wanderer, but we won’t know till the last minute.
First off, I have been in Florida all of 3 weeks. How am I supposed to know names like Alligator Alley and Polk Country Parkway? Just teasing, I asked the computer and it told me 75 is the way to go.
Second off, to answer your questions about Universal, yep I did 'em both as well as Men In Black and Terminator 2. I also caught Back to the Future in spring 1996 and I was surprised it hadn’t changed at all.
75? Congrats, you get to take the same boring route as I do. Think of me when you go over Colonial Blvd and Daniels Parkway - they’re the only two really big routes into South Fort Myers, and the exits I take to get on the freeway.
And you can still count me in - I’ll be leaving from downtown around 11:30, since Dad estimates it’ll take about a half hour to get to the restaurant. If I’m early or late, that’s why. Let me know if that estimate sounds bad…
Hmmm…well, can’t really do that one…how about next Thursday? I’ll explain my insane schedule later…email me, okay?
