Would anyone be up for a Mid-Michigan Dopefest?

I’ve been itchin’ to hang out with my fellow Michidopers lately, and I think it’s time the rest of you drive an hour so I don’t have to. Lansing would also be good for West Michigan and Northern Michigan Dopers to meet all of us!

Whaddya say? I have in mind this cheap, darling little sushi restaurant in East Lansing, with a trip to Cold Stone Creamery afterward, some Saturday or Sunday afternoon in the near future - does that sound yummy?

Which restaurant are you thinking of? I’d try and make it, schedule permitting. (Saturdays are usually better for me than Sundays.)

looks at map

looks at mid-Michigan

looks again at mid-Michigan

sighs, and looks waaaaaay down south Michigan

finds Lansing

realizes that once again, dem funny trolls never look at maps

Hey, tsarina! RickQ and I would be up for it. Cheap sushi, good company, and fantastic ice cream? How could we resist?

I’ve been le broke like whoa for the last while, and probably will be for quite some time.

But hey, if you can find a way to get me down there, I’d be more than happy to hang out with ya’ll, young’n that I am.

Just giving this bad boy a bump.

Me, me, me! :frowning: I moved out of MI 17 years ago, (my god, am I really that old???) but I grew up in MI and always think of it as my “hometown”. I can’t really come, but I’ll be there in spirit!

I’m game, depending on the when.

I’m at Michigan State, and if there weren’t so many trees on my beautiful campus, I could see Grand River Ave right out my window. Are you thinking Sushi-Ya?

I would like to go. Just need to know when. The Mrs. and I had a great time at the last one.

Depending on the date, I’m game.
I’m always interested, I just always seem to have previous committments.

I’m thinking of Omi on M. A. C. Ave., which, if you haven’t been there, is a cute, trendy little place decorated entirely in the color blue. The food’s cheap and quite tasty.

We’ll have to go when there isn’t a home football game, so that’ll have to be one of these dates: 10/23, 10/30 (although this is the date of the Michigan/ Michigan State game, so I’d rather you guys come for dinner instead), and 11/20, unless Sunday would work out better for you guys, in which case we’ll have to find a different place to eat. Sound good?

The 23rd would be fine, but the 30th is out.

It’s my weekend with the kids and my work is sponsoring a haunted hayride.

23rd just got booked for me. The next weekend is a possiblity except it IS a pretty big game day. Heh. Heh heh heh.

Brynda and I would be able to make the 23rd but we will be out of town for the 30th.

The 23rd works for me, as well. (So would the 30th, but not as well, I believe.)

Man that’s far to go for a DopeFest. 2.5 hours is what it looks like from here…I might make it though if we do it for a lunch or something.

As a “true” Mid-Michigander (my hometown begins with “mid” … beat that!), I agree with these sentiments.

One question, do they have more than sushi at this place, never been a big fan of the stuff.

The menu is here: http://www.restaurantdb.net/restaurants/menu/400 … you can get tempura (fried breaded vegetables) or udon (soup with really yummy thick noodles). You can also get sushi with vegetables inside, if you’re not into the whole raw fish thing.

So, October 23rd is looking best for most of you. Want to meet at the restaurant at noon?

OK, it turns out that I’m a complete moron and forgot that I have a wedding in Monroe to attend that afternoon, so the 23rd is out. What other dates work for you guys?
