I’ve been itchin’ to hang out with my fellow Michidopers lately, and I think it’s time the rest of you drive an hour so I don’t have to. Lansing would also be good for West Michigan and Northern Michigan Dopers to meet all of us!
Whaddya say? I have in mind this cheap, darling little sushi restaurant in East Lansing, with a trip to Cold Stone Creamery afterward, some Saturday or Sunday afternoon in the near future - does that sound yummy?
Me, me, me! I moved out of MI 17 years ago, (my god, am I really that old???) but I grew up in MI and always think of it as my “hometown”. I can’t really come, but I’ll be there in spirit!
I’m at Michigan State, and if there weren’t so many trees on my beautiful campus, I could see Grand River Ave right out my window. Are you thinking Sushi-Ya?
I’m thinking of Omi on M. A. C. Ave., which, if you haven’t been there, is a cute, trendy little place decorated entirely in the color blue. The food’s cheap and quite tasty.
We’ll have to go when there isn’t a home football game, so that’ll have to be one of these dates: 10/23, 10/30 (although this is the date of the Michigan/ Michigan State game, so I’d rather you guys come for dinner instead), and 11/20, unless Sunday would work out better for you guys, in which case we’ll have to find a different place to eat. Sound good?
The menu is here: http://www.restaurantdb.net/restaurants/menu/400 … you can get tempura (fried breaded vegetables) or udon (soup with really yummy thick noodles). You can also get sushi with vegetables inside, if you’re not into the whole raw fish thing.
So, October 23rd is looking best for most of you. Want to meet at the restaurant at noon?
OK, it turns out that I’m a complete moron and forgot that I have a wedding in Monroe to attend that afternoon, so the 23rd is out. What other dates work for you guys?
