Tampons Suck

I came in here to shill for the Divacup. Been using mine for a year or so, no leaks ever.

I think it’s that they have way better cardboard applicators now than they used to. More… ergonomic, ifyaknowwhatImean.

Learn something new every day around here.

Ooooooh. I gotcha.

Yeah, look up the threads about the DivaCup. Also, it’s not the only menstrual cup out there. Here’s a link to a board about menstrual cups

I used a DivaCup with mostly satisfactory results, but based on these discussions in that link, I’ve decided to order a Keeper Moon Cup. It’s shorter in length.

 I should hope “douche nozzles” would belong on one list or the other!

No, douche nozzles are very bad for vaginas. From Douche - Wikipedia

I never really used tampons until a couple of years ago. One of the problems I had was that I could always feel them, so I just kept trying (it can take a little practice to get them in properly) and checking out different brands. At the moment I like Tampax Pearl mainly because they’re shorter and the applicator is easier to use.

I bought a DivaCup about a year ago but only used it once. I couldn’t get it back out and had to get my boyfriend (who’d only known me for about a month or so) to reach in and grab it.

I dunno about all of you ladies, but for me there ain’t no such place. I’m sensitive as hell pretty much all the way up, Tampons don’t quite hurt, but I feel them. But then again, I’m a woman who leaves the gyno’s office almost in tears after every Pap test because it hurts so bad.

Tampons are uncomfortable. Pads slightly less so. I’d much prefer to try those birth control pills that promise you only one period a year or something, but they’re too expensive.

Please add Prince Charles to the list of things not to be inserted into a vagina. Thank you.

Fine, fine, if you’d rather have vaginal health than cunnilingus that’s your choice . . .

Somehow I knew coming in here that the TMI/post ratio would be far too high.

And yet here I am. There has to be a name for that syndrome. You know the one. You know you’re really not going to want to see something but you still don’t look away.

Hey, you want to go down on a yeasty, irritated, BV infested vulva, be my guest.

ETA: In all seriousness, I do agree that people should wash regularly and all that–but you really don’t need a douche to feel fresh. You’re probably going to feel less fresh with a douche–vaginas can be easily irritated.

Yeah, I was on the verge of making a separate thread to pit the DivaCup except it felt like TMI. After the massive PR it’s had here and elsewhere I was sure it was going to save my economy, mucus membranes and everything else between heaven and earth. It ended up being three trial months of pain, pain and pain. I thought I was a freak, because neither the manufacturer nor the retailer nor anyone else had said anything about possible problems. Nono, everyone was happy. In fact, I thought I was a freak until I clicked LorieSmurfs link. Thanks.

I, on the other hand, am eyeballing my sisters’ tampon pack every month. I’ve had enough feeling like a baby in a giant diaper* while she skips along like a magical fairy.

TMI (maybe)
*I did try a lot of the thin pads, but i tend to have a very heavy flow. No matter what, i feel the lack of ‘ventilation’ right away and tend to get irritated.
Wouldn’t it have been more fun to get blood in your mouth every month, and we women would be the spitters? huh huh? no takers?

I use only Playtex SuperPlus and I like it fine except for the aforementioned duds that don’t absorb but leak. Sometimes I scrimp and get the slightly cheaper Tampax but I always end up wishing for Playtex. Except when there is that very occasional snafu when I catch myself on one of the four plastic points.

I really thought they still existed because of the number of women who have to use both.

I’ve never used pads, but sometimes I wonder if I should at least get some liners or something, since the fucking tampon string is made of an absorbent, wicking material!!! Really, whose bright idea was that?

Envy me. I have three periods per year. :stuck_out_tongue:

DivaCup works beautifully for me. With tampons I experienced the tampon-is-clean-but-panties-are-not phenomenon way too often.

I tried the divacup and it was a no-go. I couldn’t get it centered right and then when I finally did get it in there it took about an hour to get it back out again. I can see where, with time and practice, it might work, but honestly if I am spending that much time focused on my vagina I’d better get an orgasm out of it. No, none of that insertable stuff to deal with periods for me. Always with wings. They are the only way to deal with menstruation.

9 out of 10 lady sharks disagree.
