Tattoo ideas/suggestions (Bisexuality)

I’ve been thinking about getting a tattoo recently, and became more interested when i saw someone use this as a symbol for bisexuality.

I really like the idea (being bisexual) and would love to toy around with that idea some more. I imagine if i got the street sign it would be kind of small and on the inside of one of my ankles/heels.

So are there any other simple symbols or designs that can imply bisexuality and “going both ways” so to speak?
I figured here would be a good place to get some new ideas.

(Also i will do all the normal tattoo stuff, find a good artist, make sure it’s safe, clean etc… make sure i really want the design and know it’ll be there forever. Lets have this be less of a “tattoo” thread and more of a “tattoo design” thread).

Thanks!

In my opinion, separate up and down arrows would seem to imply a willingness to be a dominant or submissive as a sexual metaphor. I’d chose this road sign as a bisexuality symbol.

Well firstly i’d have it in a way so the arrows would be going left and right rather than up and down.
And it’s more about it’s meaning to me rather than an advertisement to everyone else, i was just hoping to open my eyes to other symbols, or ways to expressing what i want that i may find appealing.

But i do thank you for your input, it was thoughtful.

I have seen folks with the symbol for their gender, linked to symbols for both genders.

Of course, I have to ask if you are thinking of the long term ramifications of using something like sexual orientation to decorate your body forever.

Nothing wrong with it, but some may get offended by the “in your FACE!” factor, even if they would normally be ambivilent about it in most instances.

(I don’t mean or this to be negative in anyway, but I can’t quite get the feeling I’m trying to convey to work with the words… gah!)

I know what you’re saying, which is why i didnt as much want this thread to be full of “Have you thought this through?!”

I have, and about it being “in your face”, it would as “in your face” as a small (less than a square inch) ambiguous street sign on my ankle. So yeah, it’s about as “in your face” as it is close to my face.

Which is also why i wanted to shy away from the obvious symbols like the linked gender signs or the linked blue/pink triangles.

If i were to somehow wake-up in 5 years time and realise i was straight or gay all along, it would still be relevant to my past and a memorable time in my life.

I think that’s awesome, myself.

No problem. I have several friends who got sexual imagery tattoo’s, when they were into BDSM or had dabbled in bi-sexuality. About half of them express regret now.

I like your idea though. If someone asks and you don’t want to have that discussion with them, you can say it’s a marker indicating the directions to move your legs. Hehehehe…

I like it too. I think he (she?) should fit right in.

He.

Have you considered “His” tattooed on one buttock and “Hers” on the other?

Shodan

If you’re considering road signs, there’s this one…

A Google image search brings up this double-moon symbol as an icon for bisexuals. Seems relatively unobtrusive to me.

I don’t know. Salgado’s a nice name and all, but would you want it permanently inked on your body? Also, I didn’t know until today that she was bi. I’m not sure that people are going to “get” your tattoo. Of course, I’m apparently totally out of the loop on this type of thing, so YMMV.

I was going to ask if there was a symbol for AC / DC, but all I can find is either reference to the band (not that there’s anything wrong with that! :stuck_out_tongue: ) or pretty poor sketches that I don’t think would work very well. Any folks out there with electrical experience that could help a lost girl out?

Oooh, that’s a good idea, faithfool.
I just wanted to say I think it’s a cool tattoo idea and your user name is brilliant.

Symbol-wise I think the moons are cooler, but I guess it depends on whether you want delicate pink and purple moons tattooed your body.

I know you said you didn’t want anything too overt, but this design is badass.

Thanks olives! And I’m very much interested in seeing the image you linked to, but it’s only showing the tripod logo. Although it can be pretty badass too.

That is weird, it shows up when I click on it.

You can see it on google images if you search ‘‘bisexual symbols’’… top row, third from the left. Basically it’s a blue faded to purple triangle with the gender symbols linked together in kind of a neat, almost celtic cross sort of way.

All well and good. May I ask two questions?

  1. Would this be your first tattoo?
  2. Do you know that most artists would resist doing something that was less than a square inch?

Is Sandra Salgado Bi?

If you link to a Tripod image, it thinks you’re hotlinking and shows a Tripod image. Copy and paste the URL instead.
