Tattoo locations -- Cracked.com

I guess tats aren’t the cutting edge fad anymore? Cracked’s article on them and their locations is hilarious. I almost spilled my coffee laughing at the area marked in gold.

I swear that thing was on The Onion or Fark or something like that at least 5 years ago, if not 10.

Yep. Welcome to 1995.

Tats were popular way after 1995. TLC had two tattoo shows on in 2008; Miami Ink, and one with Kat Von Dee. Kat’s show was just canceled last year.

I see a lot of tats on students at the college I work for. Like anything fads end. The 18 year olds today may not be interested anymore. Theres so much bad ink out there. I see maybe one good tat for every dozen that are just cheesy.

Yes, they’re still popular. What they were not - I don’t know if 1995 is the cutoff point, but it happened years ago - is cutting edge. If something becomes popular and remains that way for a long time, at some point it stops being cutting edge even if it continues to be popular. In fact, I have a test: if I have something or am into something or live somewhere, it was probably cutting edge recently but stopped being that way a couple of years ago. And that’s fine with me, for whatever that’s worth. Chasing trends is exhausting. Doing something you like is much better. There must be people who are still getting tattoos because they think they’re edgy or trendy, but I imagine that’s a shrinking number. What I’ve noticed is that if you think tattoos are trendy, you’re more likely to be some who hates tattoos than someone who likes them.

If you track the trends by reality T.V., there are currently two shows about bad tattoos: Tattoo Nightmares and America’s Worst Tattoos, which premiered last week. So at least in the world of reality T.V., tattoos have gone from the cool stage to the point and laugh stage.

You are 100% correct. Onion, I think. I’mma see if I can find it.

Edit : Y’know, I guess it wasn’t the Onion. But that exact image, with the same fonts, I’ve seen for years.

I’m certain that that’s an old Cracked article as well. Odd that there’s no timestamp.

I think it’s from June 2009.

Luke McKinney, the writer of that article, mentioned that the graphic’s been stolen and linked many times.

Huh. According to that, I’m a slutty, unemployed, “princess”. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mine says “I will never have a job that pays taxes” (which is untrue). I have one on my wrist.
